Quick Question

Is it not permitted to reestablish an older thread that one finds interesting?
Often times, someone posts something that is not a "hot" topic (in other forums I belong to) that later becomes highly visible with an original post sometimes months earlier.
Just wondering since I am new here. Should I only look at posts that are a day or two old?

I don't see why you can't look at and post to whatever you like. And you're right, something that isn't a hot topic at first can become so later.

If you like a particular subject area such as "overtime" or "pediatric codes" there is a search function and it will go back quite far into the past. Anything you post on SHOULD come to the forefront of the list of topics.

I guess I should hve been a bit clearer on that. I did post to a thread that had been dormant for a couple of weeks. Pretty quickly a new post came informing me the thread was closed and that I should look at the date.

Needless to say I am confused about this but I am new so if there are topics that are not permitted or special rules about things that differ from the agreement I sure do wish I knew about them.

I think threads are only closed if there become too heated to continue. Sometimes they are just closed for a short time to let people cool off and then are opened again. Sometimes they stay closed.

I think you may have tried to post on one of those.

But maybe a mod can answer your question . . . try sending a pm to one of them.

Hi and welcome. You can post to any of the active threads you would like to. I see no problem with posting to a thread that is a couple of weeks old. The problem comes when very old (ie more than a year or so) threads are revived because sometimes these don't contain current information. Am unsure what incident you are writing about when you posted and were told that the thread was closed. Please PM me with more info. Take care and welcome...judi

It wasn't closed when I posted. I pretty quickly got an email about a post to the same thread. When I went to read it I found a pretty rude statment telling me to look at the date on the original post. I tried to post again and ask the same question I asked in this post original post and got a pop up telling me the thread had been closed.

My thoughts are this forum is being cencored by at least one RN who prevents LPNs from voicing a controversial opinion. OK, I can live with that, after all I am a very conservative nurse in a very liberal field. :)

It's not a problem, I am new here and just trying to learn the way things are done or not done as the case may be!
