quick question about state approval

I just have a quick question that desperately needs an answer. Not sure where it goes, sorry if it's in the wrong category.

So I'm looking at this career college in Florida. Their program is NLN accredited. However, it is NOT fully approved by the state board. It is only "provisionally" approved. Can someone tell me what that means? Will it prevent me from applying to take the nclex? Or will I not be able to take the nclex right after graduating?

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like they may have gotten in trouble and if they make one more wrong move the approval goes away? One of our local nursing programs is provisional right now.

The only way to know for sure is to contact the State BON and ask.

It may be an indication of a serious problem that they are working to correct, or it may be a simple matter of being a relatively new program that has not yet established a long enough "track record" of success to achieve full approval by the BON. For example, most states require nursing education programs to maintain an NCLEX pass rate of at least 75-80% over a number of years for full approval. If this program has only existed for a year or two, it may not be eligible for full approval, even if they have excellent pass rates, simply because they haven't had enough graduating classes.

This is a question that can be better answered by the BON. I suggest contacting the Fl BON and asking them. Good luck!! :D
