Quick CNA Question

In January I had to wait about a month before I got scheduled for my test. In the end it did no matter to me since I didn't have my work permit yet, so I got certified before I applied for a job.

However, I do think it depends on your future employer, at the hospital I work at, they would not hire me unless I could show them my actual, paper licence. Some employers are happy with using the AZBN website and looking up your account.

Thank you. It seems a shame to have over a month of down time before you can go to work. I wonder if there is a way to speed up the process.

I think it depends on where you are trying to work. I am finishing up CNA classes on Friday (10/19) and I have a job already, and one of the ladies in my class is working while in class for her CNA. How long it takes to get your actual paper license after passing the test kinda depends on your background check I believe.

Thanks, David. That's exactly the information I was looking for. I didn't know, if anyone would hire you while you waited to take the exam, or not. I already have my fingerprint card. Is that the background check you were talking about, or just the regular employment background check?

The BON will do a check when they get your application for license. I have been told that ANYTHING will show up, so just be upfront and honest. But also ANYTHING will slow the process down. Lots of places will hire you and start you, but maybe at a slightly lower pay rate until you get your paper license. Glad I could help, keep us posted!

I finished my class on a Wed. and had already prescheduled my test which was about 10 days later on a Saturday (a week and a half later). I had an email with my results Monday afternoon. I already had my fingerprint card and started working that week because the place I worked took it off the AZ BON website before I even had my paper certification. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Erica, I can schedule my test before I'm finished with the class? Do you know what's the earliest I can schedule it?

Go to www.hdmaster.com, choose Arizona, then choose test schedule and you can find out when the test dates are at what locations, and it has all the info about testing there. You need to choose a test date after your class is completed. At my community college our instructors gave us our certificates the week before school was done so that we could get registered. I am up in Flagstaff, so they know that it is harder to get a test date. If you are in Phoenix, they have tests all the time, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck!
