What I would like to know is what questions should I ask the interviewer when given the oppurtunity?

Thanks

1. Standard nurse: pt ratio, as well as "usual" ratio.

2. Length of orientation, as well as format (classes + clinical, clinical only, etc)

3. Whether RN's attend deliveries regularly, or do dedicated staff, like an NNP do them?

4. The usual... like how many holidays, weekends, vacations, sick days, floating policy, etc.

5. Continuing ed. Do they have classes for the staff?

6. Weekend/shift diff

7. RNC certification reimbursement, tuition reimbursement.

That's all I can think of at this point...good luck! It's great to see another guy in NICU! I did ER for a while and missed my babies too much.....

Steve came up with some good questions, though I'm not sure I would ask anything about money until after an offer. I would like to add though that I wanted to know how and how often I would have performance evals.

well I did not get the 1st one I interveiwed for, it was a part-time(24hrs a week) spot and I would have had to be a dual status employee( work one day a week in another area(er). Apparently they have enough experienced NICU nurses applying. Oh Well!! I still have 2 other oppurtunities.
