Suzanne4,
hi! im new in this forum, just wanna ask bout NCLEX licensure in vermont.is it true that if you apply in vermont you dont need to have a CGFNS/CES evaluation? what states will you able to work at if you passed their NCLEx exam? do they have a reciprocity in other states? how long will it take me to process my application? is it true that it would only take vermont a month to process my application? please help...thanks..

the vermont state DOES not need the CES report. They only need your official school transcrip forwarded to them by your school authority. BUT if you want your license in Vermont to be reciprocated to another states THEN you must meet that STATE of your Choice there Board of nursing requirment, if they need CES then you must apply for that. good luck
Thank you so much for your reply...BTW, my sister just graduated fr nrsg and she would also like to apply for vermont, problem is..she dont know yet whether she passed or not the recent Local boards..Can she also apply for vermont state even without a local license? pls help me on this..tnx!!

Licenses in the US do not have reciprocity, only the NCLEX-RN exam does. You will need to go thru the steps that a particular state requires under License by Endorsement procedures. If they want the CES, then you will need to have the CES, if they want the CGFNS exam, then you will need to have that.
Reciprocity was a term that was used back in the days when each state had their own nursing exam, and depending on what your socre was on the exam, you could get reciprcoty in another state without having to take their exam. Or before Visa Screen Certificates were required for all foreing nurses, some states accepted the Canadian license and offered reciprocity based on that and gave them a license without the nurse writing the NCLEX-RN exam. But now since the VSC is required, they have to take the NCLEX-RN exam to get a VSC.

Hi, If you dont have a local board license, write a letter to them stating that you intend to practice nursing in the U.S. Then attach your letter to the vermont application.
so sori joannep, i dont wanna post wrong info's here..i emailed vermont state but unfortunately did not replied...huhuhu... so i do'nt have any idea yet whether you could apply vermont without a local license...actually my sister really wanted to know this also since til now the local boards have not yet posted the results...and she still has to wait for another 2 weeks due to the leakage issue...sad!!
thank u so much edward12 for the reply, btw, can i also ask if u know sum1 hu did this(no local license applying to vermont) and was approved by the vermont BON? my sister is afraid that her application even with the letter wont be approved..what are the possible reasons that ur vermont application wont be approved due to this? thank you so,so much...pardon for my ignorance...im also new on this nclex application...
Thanks and God Bless!!

Since she took the licensing exam, she needs to include those results. If she did not take the exam, then she just needs the letter. The issue is that she has actually taken the exam, she must include on her application that she did. She cannot with hold that information.
I personally appiled at Vermont w/o a local license. I graduated last April,2006. And after passing my IELTS exam after graduating, I immediately applied at Vermont BON, last May.I attached a letter stating that I am not planning to practice nursing here but am planning to work in the U.S. I followed-up my application by calling them and they informed me to wait for my ATT this week. I also agree with Suzanne4 that witholding any information on the application will definitely pose a problem in the future. :wink2:
once again, thank u so, so much edward12 for ur quick response...
can u pls advice me whether i should just wait for the local boards result or shd i apply now? i worry that even if i pass ( hopefully!! ) the registration would take me another 2-3 months to get my license ( which shd be photocopied and sent to VT BON ). BTW, can i also add, are u doing self review or attending a review center? wat good review center (NCLEX) can u suggest then?

I am following the suggestions of suzanne4 on the nclex review, im on a self review, reading the Saunders 3rd edition (blue cover) and saunder's Q&A (green cover). You can also go to the Nclex discussion forum.
I suggest that you wait for your local board results, before you apply at Vermont and also take the English Exam, IELTS or TOEFL-iBT. But I think IELTS is more better bec youll have a one on one interview with an English examiner. Good Luck!
