Question?

Ask your instructor if they offer something called a 16 hour letter. It states that you have completed some training in regards to patient safety and patient rights. I got such a letter from my instructor. I started applying to places while I still had a couple weeks to go in my class using that letter to show that I was serious about this and figured that by the time HR got around to looking at the application, calling me back setting up interview time I would be done or very nearly done. I would say go ahead and apply. What could it hurt ya know?

Also try calling HR at some of the places you are interested in working in. They'll be able to tell you when to send in your application.

I went through a BOCES program, and they contracted with a local nursing home. All students, well, most, received letters offering them jobs before completion of the course. We then knew that upon completion, we would have a job! It was great.

Well thanks to all you responses to my question. i finished my classes last Thursday and am openly putting in applications everywhere. But in the meantime i will work at my crappy job until then.

I took my classes at the NH im currently working at now, was on the floor the 2nd week into my class, then u have 4 months to work as a NA until u get Certified, and it was all free. something u might look into..

BTW im new here, just signed up the other day.....Ive been a CNA now for a year and a half and love it. Thinking about going to get my LPN so i can work in a nursery and do what ive always wanted to do.

I wanted to thak everyone with responses. I am going to put in more applications this week. Right now im in a job that i hate but i promised myself that i would not quit until i got another job. But sometimes it is hard to look for a job when you have to work Sunday night until 2am and cannot get to sleep for a least a hr to an 1 1/2 hrs. after you get home and then get up at 6 am to get my boys off to school. Sorry did not mean to go off subject.

BTW, where did you take your CNA classes? I'm in Dayton, OH, as well and am going to take classes in 2 weeks at Miami Valley Medical School. I was wondering if anybody had heard anything about their reputation.

well i heard that they state test you but im not sure. but i know they alot more than sinclair where i took my classes.good luck on your classes. Let me know how it goes.

They will state test us. The course is 2 weeks. We will go back to the school 1 to 2 weeks after we complete the course to get tested. It cost $590 and that includes the cost to take the test (which I understand is $97). Greene County Career Center also has classes. They're 3 weeks and cost I think $485 but don't pay for your test. I didn't even know Sinclair offered them. How much were the classes?
