Question

Just like some other people, i am in need of your advice.This is my situation:

I am applying to MBON licensure, my CES was mailed to them last week of July. My ILA OPI englist test result was also mailed to them second week of August. Is there a way for me to follow up my status with MBON?I called Nclex already and they haven't recieved any advice from MBON .Hope somebody can advice me about this matter. thanks.

Thank you for your answering me very soon, any way MBON i'm referring about is Maryland Board of Nursing.Sorry, but I assume you know the MBON i'm referring about coz i mentioned ILA OPI and the only board of nursing that accepts this is Maryland. I tried calling them but to no avail of somebody to entertain my call (i call every hour for the past 6 hrs.)tried to email them already hope i can get a response. thanks

Sorry, most still use the TOEFL for Maryland. Since you still need to do the complete set of exams for the Visa Screen Certificate, it makes no sense to do an exam that will not be credited anywhere else.

You will need to follow up with them for your concerns. Best time to phine them is right when they open in the morning.

hi there, nigeldj! I hope you don't mind me asking. where did you sit for the ILA OPI? was it in MD or in another state? and why did you choose ILA OPI instead of TOEFL or IELTS? are you now in the US? just curious.

hi, i took the person to person exam in Baltimore,Maryland. I chose ILA OPI instead of TOEFL or IELTS because first the result is as fast as 7-10 days and as soon as my CES report was released to Maryland BON i wanted to have the fastest result for English Test which only ILA OPI offers, but sad to say it is only accepted by MD BON. Right now correct me if I'm wrong there is no more available TSE exam in the U.S.

It should not be taken as offensive, the issue is that you will need to get a Visa Screen Certificate, and they only accept the TOEFL series, or the IELTS series. So most, do not use the other exam, only more money is spent.

The TSE is part of the TOEFL series, and is done at the same time. And is offered all over the US. Again, you will still need the other English exams for the Visa Screen Certificate.

i see. was ILA OPI easy? what sort of questions were in it?

it's the iBT that replaced the CBT but with a speaking test. you can also use it for visascreen if you still need one.

it seems that MD BON doesn't reply to emails either 'coz a friend had to send multiple times before she got a reply.

I wonder which english exam the BON now requires for endorsement as the website still mentions TSE (no mention for IELTS/TOEFL). I hope you can ask them about this too when you can get through.
