question in regards to license

I have a question in regards to renewing a license. I currently hold a license in two states and one in which I currently do not work in which is PA. I just completed my first year of nursing practice not too long ago so I am new to the whole license renewal process. Anyway, I want to maintain and renew my NJ license but at the moment I do not want to renew my PA license d/t needing to save as much money as possible and not quite done all my CEs. Is there any specific process I have to follow in regards to not renewing my license and also will this penalize me for not renewing it. If that's the case then I guess I will have to renew my PA license then. I just want to do it the right way so if anyone has any answers for me that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Contact the PA Board of Nursing. Some states have an "Inactive" status which may be easier to renew in the future instead of letting it expire.

Thanks for the advice!

Most states take a dim view of allowing nursing licenses to lapse. If you don't need or want to maintain the license, please take the time to officially place it on inactive status. If you fail to do so and wish to renew it at some time in the future, you will probably face a stiff fine/penalty and have to jump thru extra hoops. Not worth the trouble when you can avoid it :)
