question regarding background check

Hi all~

I have a quick question regarding background check. I'm applying to UW Seattle's graduate program and they request a background check from the State you resided within the past three years, in my case, Massachusetts. Any thoughts on how I can obtain that? (Preferably, on-line because I'm currently out of the country) If anyone could tell me the price for that, it'll be awesome! Thanks!

You should check out the Massachusetts State Police website. In many states, it is the State Police ( and I don't mean your local cop shop) that is responsible for maintaining criminal records for the state. Prices for state police checks are usually pretty low- around $5-$10 for a name based search. If you have to do a fingerprint based search, it will probably be much higher, as you will probably have to pay someone to actually apply your fingerprints to the fingerprint card.

Just in case you are still in need of your background check, I happen to have some information for you.

Try Certifiedbackground.com they should be able to do it for you and even send a copy to your school.

Good luck!

Before spending any money to a private agency/company to do a bachground check for you, I would definitely ask the school if they have any specific requirements or preferences.

I handle the student background checks for my hospital and we don't accept "just any" background check. We have very specific requirements. We prefer the one from the State Police.
