Question about Plastic Surgery procedure

Ok, back in October I had posted about a Chlostridia infection that I had contracted in my right arm. To refresh the story, I had 3 surgeries and was in the hospital for 10 days. I have a total of 4 scars, two about 3 inches long on the top of my hand, one about 12 inches long on the top of my forearm, and one of similar size on the underside of my forearm. I'm finally done with physical therapy and have regained 100% usage of my wrist and fingers(thankfully!!)

My question is about the plastic surgery to fix the scars. I am not too self conscious about them, they are quite the discussion starter! I am curious as to how the procedure is done. What is the recovery time and how many procedures are generally needed? I was told by the surgeon that I could have them fixed now, but show season is just starting and I don't want to miss too much time. Thanks for any help! :)

The existing scars are excised, depending on how deep and wide they are they may require some undermining of the adjacent tissue. The subcutaneous and skin are then closed using fine suture and expert hands. You will still have scars, their appearance will be better. They may prescribe some topical creams that help reduce discoloration and fade the actual incisions. Good luck with the procedures.

Agreed - but also keep in mind some people scar worse that others. Keloid formation varies from person to person, and african americans tend to scar worse than others. Be sure to ask your physician if your scarring is one that will actually be improved w/ plastic surgery (if you so desire).
