Question about NCLEX testing

Published

Well I graduated on June 11, 2004 and I'm now a GPN. I haven't started looking for a job yet because I want to test first.. I have a few questions.

First do I have to wait for a letter from New york before I can schedule my test?

I did the sign up online will it process faster..

How long does it usually take after having everything sent in to take boards?

I'm just a bundle of nerves and ready to get it done.. I have everything sent in and signed up via internet this morning for my boards..

Thank you for your help

Congratulations on graduating from school.

Now in answer to your questions, you must wait until you have the ATT letter in hand to sign up and schedule yourself for the exam. You should not have even signed up yet. It you look closely at the Pearson-Vue website, it says do not send money in or register until you have your ATT letter in hand.

You could receive the letter in a few weeks or it could be a few months. This is a very busy time fo the year for the nursing boards all over the country, and probably the world.

Sorry that I can't give you a better answer than that. When did you actually send in all of your documentation to NYS Board of Nursing? Was it just now or a few months ago?

I applied to my state BON and also registered over the phone with the national board all in one day. About 3 weeks later I received my ATT. I did not have to wait to hear anything from my state board.

They emailed my ATT with instructions and I scheduled my test time then a couple days later I got my ATT in the regular mail.

Suzanne is right, it might take awhile for you to test as this is a busy time of year. Hope this helps with your questions. Good luck :)

Angelina I too am from NY state (Buffalo). Challenging the LPN here is my timeline: mailed my application for licensure on May 19, paid for my registration online with Pearson Vue on May 21, school sent transcripts on June 3 and received my ATT yesterday, my test date is July 21st. So I say it will probably take about 4wks depending on how soon the board gets your transcripts and how their load is. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

First of all Congrats on graduating. I graduated from an RN program on Jan '04. I also waited to take NCLEX before actually setting foot on any hospital. The only bad news I have to tell you is that I received my ATT in May. It actually took 5 months for the state to process my stuff. I hope you don't wait as long as I did. The only pro in this situation is that I had a lot of time to study my butt off.

Best of luck on NCLEX!!!

I received my ATT via email and was able to schedule my test date immidiatly by going on the Pearson website. I also paid my $200 in advance b/c it was required. However, I did get an ATT letter in the mail which I took with me to take the test. It was very laid back here in New Orleans and the staff was very nice.

Thank you for all the reply's... I didn't schedule a appointment thank goodness.. Now I know it may be a while before I get all the paper work.. Just means more time to study my butt off.. YOu all have been very helpfull thank you..
