Question - Is there a limit to how many patients a medaid can have on there cart?

Im a night shift nurse. Its our facility policy that all new admits and those returning from the hopital stay on the nurses cart for 7 days and then they may be moved to the the med aids cart, which as a night nurse I move after there time is up. Of course we always keep hospice patients and tube feeders. On my hall there are 37 patients, 1 charge nurse and 1 med aid. One of my medaids has been protesting that she is not allowed to have more than 32 patients on her cart saying its a state regulation. Is this true? Im in texas.

I'm not sure about the number of patients a med aid can have since we don't allow them in Massachusetts, but I think it was recently decided on here that each post can only have one word spelled wrong. Sorry but it's a pet peeve.

And, as an aside, why do you have to do the meds for the Hospice patients? Is it because they are on narcotics?
