question about applying to nursing school...

Published

since nursing school is competitive to get into(atleast around here it is), it makes sense to apply to atleast three schools right ? there is no guarentee to getting into programs, especially if they only accept 40 people!>!> there are only about 3 schools in my state that offer the BSN program... meaning i'd have to apply out of state. how many schools did you apply to ?? i have a good 2 years left of pre-req/support classes, and a lot of the schools have different pre-reqs when it comes to their program!!!! ahhhhhh

I was only planning on applying to one..but after reading posts on here I applied to a second school just in case. The schools were both highly competitive but I got into both. I am glad I applied to more than one because the second school ended up working out better for me. I would apply to two or three but don't go overboard because then you will have a tough choice to make when deciding where to go. If your app looks good enough you shouldn't have a problem anyway. Good luck!

thanks for the reply. i'm pretty sure i'm not going to have a 4.0 when i apply, but where i want to go, the min. gpa is 3.2-3.4, but the academic advisor said if i held a 3.8, that should guarentee my spot. also depends on how others grades are.... if all people that apply have 4.0, and i've got a 3.5 and up, i will not get in !!! i'm sooo nervous... and i heard the classes just get tougher... this fall i'm taking micro and statistics, and barely got a B in Biology, but will also have a part time job this coming quarter.

Just try hard to keep your grades up and you'll be fine. Every point counts so do as good as you can from day one and don't give up until the end. Just do your best and that is all you can do. If you are worried about having a job and school just use your study time wisely. Micro and stats are both challenging in their own way but if you go to class and study you can do it!

thanks for your input. i know i can say honestly i didn't give it all i had, and knew i could probably do better. it's hard to focus and study on stuff i have no interest in ... part of biology we learned about the body, ect and part we learned about biomes, and classifying reptiles..ect. !!! i did way better on the body exam !!

I applied to every school that was geographically within my driving range to attend. It is a lot more competitive now so if I were doing it over, I would probably apply to schools that are further out, but maybe after seeing how I did at my first choices. My grades weren't that stellar but I was lucky enough to get in at the time. Good luck to you.
