Question About Call

I will be new to call. My call will be one 12 hour weekend day shift a month, either 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am. And two 10pm to 6am weekday shifts per month. So, roughly, 3 days. Is this consider a pretty tame call requirement? Thank you for your time and input! I really appreciate it.

I am required to take 24 hrs of call every 4 weeks. Our call blocks are in 4 hr blocks

I'd say that's pretty darn tame compared with the amount of call other areas take. I work open heart surgery, and take anywhere between 20 and 84 hours of call per week depending on staffing and if it's my turn to cover the weekend (yes, the whole weekend from 3:00pm Friday until 7:00am Monday). Our cath lab is only slightly behind that amount. ER is something like four 4-hour blocks per four week schedule, and I'm not sure about any other departments.

We are required to take two 12 hour call shifts per month if we are in the first two groups to schedule (priority). If we are in the third group, we get the left over regular shifts, but only one 12 hour call shift.
