Pursuing a Second Master's

Does anyone think it would be worthwhile to get a 2nd Master's as a Psych ARNP. Already am an RN, with MSW, and soon to be LCSW.

I was once told by my father- education is the greatest investment you can ever make. Go for it.

What will you do with a Psych NP Master's that would be different than what you can do with your MSW/LCSW?

Education is never a waste. We become the totality of all we've been through!

However, the time and money spent to get that second Master's might not have a big impact on your work life, other than a greater understanding of what you're doing. On the other hand, Psych NPs get paid oodles more than MSW/LCSWs get paid, where I live.

Well, I am still considering the idea.

Honestly I would think about doing the 2nd master but try to consider getting it either in psych or education to (honestly) teach us nursing students.

As a student and one dual diagnosed I wish there where more nurse Educators like my Aunt , Grandma and my sponsor.

Good luck with your education.

Possibly counseling I am beginning a PMHNP program now and find my counseling degree (M.A.) to be more useful in this arena.

Well, do you want to be a psych NP or an LCSW? The practices are v. different.

I should be a fledged LCSW by the end of March and I am thinking of applying for the psych ARNP that would start next September.

What have you done with the counseling degree in the past or currently and are you a psych nurse now or have you been one before?

How has the counseling MA helped you with the psych ARNP program?
