Hi everyone,
I am looking at online programs for psychiatric nurse practitioner. I live in pa, and I'm looking right now at Wilkes University. I am also looking at LaSalle University. I want to go full time and I'm trying to go somewhere under 2 and a half years. I also want to find a place that finds clinical placement for their students. If anyone went to Wilkes University or any other online program and have any information, please let me know!

There is a lot of threads here about this and there is a program search site:

Can I ask why you want to do online only? You will most likely have to find your clinical sites yourself at an online only school. I know the appeal is flexibility, but even in full DNP programs, I only had class 1 day every other week. Most work was online, papers & tests. We had a few practical experiences but the final years u are doing all clinical/capstone for the most part. The only school I know of in my city was the long standing state school that could place their students. My DNP program was relatively new, so I had to find my own, even though they have a medical school and undergrad BSN program. Also, the education might not really challenge you and you will most likely not feel ready when you graduate.
Thank you for that link. I would prefer to do online, just for flexibility. I live in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia, there are not as many options in my state as I would like. If I could find a program close to where I live I wouldn't mind going in person. I really don't want to do this and not feel prepared when I finish. Was it difficult finding your own clinical sites? What state do you live in?
Yes, it is very difficult. The larger/more government related, the worse. I got lucky ending up in a small private practice and helped another student with her hours by referring her to my clinic. Even my faculty tried hard to get us in several hospitals that gave us the cold shoulder. Especially for some specialties like psych, options are limited. I would probably try to find a local private practice and go talk to the owner in person.
