Pros and Cons?

Hi Everyone,So im finally applying for NS next week and I will find out shortly after if I get into the BSN program. If I do, I will start in the Fall. My question is this,I'm also starting a CNA class nxt week at my college. What are the pros and cons of CNA training for nursing students?? I mostly hear that it's beneficial but then some say it's not....What do you think?Thanks!

    Hello , so I've decided to go for it . CNA is a basic training plus I want to get my feet wet. I want to apply to Western Governors BSN program and one of the requirements is CNA or LVN lic. The only minus is the price of the training I've chose , but I am still excited.

    Wow I didn't realize that some programs actually require the applicant to have a CNA certification. Is Western Governors an online degree BSN?? I've never heard of it before...

    Is your CNA program very expensive?? I'm doing my program through the community college. It's pretty affordable here in AZ.

    yes it is online , I am going to apply for pre-licensure program ,there are several pre-reqs such as anat+physio, chem , micro,BSN with RN License | Online RN Degree | Online Nursing School , their counselor told me that its much better if you have already some experience in healthcare , she strongly advise me to get my CNA. The cost of my CNA is 1400$ , covers 2 uniforms , stethoscope,cuffs, exam fees, and books, I am going to start on June 14th.

    My school requires a CNA course for all incoming nursing students and they are particular about which ones are accepted. Luckily my school offers a CNA course so I took it there last fall. It was $460 plus textbook and scrubs (1 set was plenty) for clinicals. We didn't need a stethoscope, BP cuff, etc.

    It is BEYOND beneficial; not necessarily as a nursing student but as a nurse. I tell all of my friends that they really need to work as a CNA before working as an RN, because it really teaches you SO much more than school or clinicals will ever do.
