Georgia State Perimeter (GPC) Fall 2017
I'm post-bacc, as well. I spoke with the head nursing recruiter at the hospital in my hometown, and she was actually encouraging me to do ASN-BSN as opposed to a regular BSN or accelerated program. She actually said that accelerated program grads tend to struggle more as new hires because they have a limited amount of clinical time. Of course, that is on a case-by-case basis, but it did make me feel a little better that she encouraged me to go the ASN-BSN route.

That's when I'm expecting them to go out! The last weekend in March or so! About that time, anyways. Fingers crossed for everyone!!

I've also applied for Fall 2017! I went to an information session yesterday, and Renee was saying that to be a competitive applicant, you need a 3.0 in both GPAs (science & program) and a 65 on the TEAS. She also said that the acceptance letters will be in the mail no later than the end of April, but I asked if we may see them earlier and she said that there's a good chance we could! Also, if you look at older forums, it looks like people were getting their letters around the end of March, so I'll start really checking the mail in about a month! EEEEK!! I'm not sure what my overall/program GPA is, but I think it's about the same as my science GPA. My stats: a&p I lecture- A a&p I lab - A a&p II lecture- A a&p II lab - B micro - currently taking TEAS - 87.3% I'm feeling pretty confident, but then again, you never know.... Good luck to everyone!

Atlanta Hospitals Jobs & Level of Degrees
That's so encouraging. Thank you! You graduated May of 2015? Do you mind my asking what program you completed your ASN through?

Congratulations on your graduation! Are you in Atlanta by chance?

Atlanta Hospitals Jobs & Level of Degrees
I don't know if I was clear haha she was saying that you can't get a job as an ASN nurse, which is what I would be (for just a year) if I pursued the ASN-BSN track.

Atlanta Hospitals Jobs & Level of Degrees
Hi, I was told (or warned, rather) by an Emory FNP the other day to NOT consider going the ASN-BSN bridge route because I wouldn't be able to get a job as a nurse in a lot of Atlanta hospitals. It worried me a lot. Is this the case nowadays? I'm hoping she just didn't know what she was talking about! Haha. I'm currently in the process of applying for KSU's Traditional and Accelerated programs, GSU Perimeter's ASN program, and GSU's Traditional and Accelerated programs (I have a B.A. in Public Relations from the Univ of Alabama). I would obviously take a spot in a BSN program if accepted, but seeing as how they're so competitive, I feel like I have a better shot of getting into an ASN program. However, I wouldn't want to go that route only to be jobless at the end of it.

ADN or BSN for Future Masters Degree?
And I have, I just also want to consider his financial situation...I wouldn't be working while going back to school, and I'd really like to NOT take out loans, but if it's the best way to go (straight into bachelors, I mean) then I would try for that.

ADN or BSN for Future Masters Degree?
Hi, I wanted to see if anyone had advice on this... I'm getting married this coming summer, but still trying to put myself through nursing school. My plan is to start a nursing program in the fall (if accepted, of course) after my wedding. I've been torn, though, between trying to get my bachelors in nursing first, or if I should do an ASN-BSN bridge program. I would definitely be wanting to get my bachelors degree later because I'm very interested in CRNA or FNP school. I know that's a long ways off, but the decision to go either into an ASN or BSN program has to happen pretty soon. (I also don't want to put my fiance/husband out of any more money than I absolutely have to...) So what I'm ultimately asking is, do CRNA schools and/or FNP schools look down on ASN-BSN bridge programs? Would I be able to get an ICU job as an ASN nurse while working on my bachelors degree? I know you need the ICU experience to apply to CRNA school, but what if I wouldn't be able to get the job as a 2-year nurse? I'm not sure if this is even relevant information, but I do already have a B.A. in Public Relations from the University of Alabama...not sure if already have a bachelors degree carries any weight at all.
