I would love to know this as well. I have antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (autoimmune blood clotting disorder) with a history of PE and TIA. I talked to HR about this and they had me and my physician fill out a reasonable accommodation request. I submitted it yesterday so hopefully I’ll hear back Monday what my options are. I work on a medsurg/PCU overflow that was the original designated covid unit but now will be PCU level covid patients.

My titers are negative for measles and chicken pox even though I’m fully vaccinated with boosters. I worked medsurg while pregnant with my 2nd baby. I figured that a measles/chicken pox/shingles case (which I would get chicken pox from) would be more easily identified in a hospital than being out and about in the community. You can’t keep you or your baby in a safety bubble, unfortunately. As a mom, I can tell you that the worry never stops! I can tell how much anxiety this is causing you just from reading your post. If it’s causing you this much stress then working isn’t worth it. Pregnancy suppresses your immune system and stress will only make it worse. If you can swing it financially, stay home.

I graduated in August. I was in a medsurg position for 4 months before I was offered an L&D position at another hospital, so it’s possible. To be fair, I applied to both hospitals before I graduated. It just took longer for the other hospital to get back to me about L&D. They didn’t care that I had only been at my first job for a couple months when I interviewed. I hated leaving my first job after being there such a short time, but I couldn’t pass up the L&D opportunity since openings in those units are very hard to come by! Just keep on applying. I know it’s hard to be patient, but something will turn up!

A representative from CHOP came to my school a couple weeks ago and she said the nurse residency program will actually be open in December.

2 years is nothing! You're really lucky that they offered you a spot in the traditional program. My school didn't offer the traditional track to a girl who failed out of my ABSN program. You can do it!!

No credit check for me :/ Ah well. Maybe I'm still in the running though. I have mixed feelings about this scholarship anyways. It's disappointing, but now I'll have more freedom after graduation...but with way more debt haha

What does the application status change to after "under review?" Does it ever change to denied?

I am also a Nurse Corps applicant and did not have any hard hits on my credit report.

I only got the email last week, which I still feel is not enough notice to write an essay, especially because a lot of us have jobs and children. But I'll get it done! Good luck!! :)

I also considered Drexel. If you already have plans of pursing your masters I would say Jefferson. It was one of the reasons I enrolled. I honestly hate the application process with the recommendations, essays, transcripts, etc and I don't want to do it again with masters programs. I'm attending the program at the Abington campus so location also played a huge role. I love the city but hate the commute! I would contact Drexel though to see what their process is for their masters programs for current ACE students. They might have a streamlined process.

I submitted my fasfa a week and a half ago, so I'm still waiting on hearing back. I'm not looking forward to more student debt!

Thank you all! I'm looking forward to meeting everybody! The interview process is very laid back. They interview up to 4 candidates at a time. Jacqueline asks questions like why nursing, why Jefferson, what are the qualities of a good nurse, etc. Then there's a writing assignment that asked if I had a good support system in place and what reservations I had about the program. I interviewed two and half weeks ago so the turnaround time was a little longer than the first round of interviews.

I just received my acceptance email for the Abington campus! So excited!!

I haven't been accepted yet! I had my interview on Monday but haven't heard back yet so fingers crossed! The program at Abington starts at the end of August I believe.

I have an 8 month old and I applied for the one year program. It's going to be intense, but I have a great support system. I think as long as you have people in your life to help out with the baby, it's doable.
