  1. Another question...does anyone know if this program has been accredited yet? On the website under accredidation is says "The Master's Entry Program in Nursing at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis now pursues initial accreditation for the Master of Science in Nursing Degree by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The School of Nursing will host a team of reviewers from CCNE Sept. 6-8, 2017, as a part of the process of accreditation review."
  2. Those of you who submitted a FAFSA and qualified for aid in undergraduate. How are you planning on paying for the $93,000 in tuition/fees? The price seems crazy high for a program that results in RN. UCLA's MECN is around $50k. Are you going to be taking out the $20k in federal loans each year and then private for the rest?
  3. Thank you adventure_rn for taking the time to respond! I think the entry level masters programs that end with RN and no higher specialization are a newer kind of accelerated nursing program that give people with a bachelor's in something else another program option. Or at least they seem somewhat new because of the limited information and statistics out on them. Other schools in CA with the same type of entry level MSN program are University of San Diego MEPN, UCLA MECN (Master's Entry Clinical Nurse), UCSF MEPN, and UC Irvine MEPN. It must depend on the hopsital and hiring staff. I've read that some nurses like the entry level master's students because they seem more mature and focused, but the couple of nurses I have talked to think that the point we are at right now is that it mostly matters to have your BSN vs ADN.
  4. Hello! I've been accepted into both of these programs and have to make a decision VERY soon. If anyone has experience/insight into either of these programs I would love to hear it. UC Davis is entry level MSN that results in RN. Both of these programs are accelerated nursing programs for those with a bachelor's in something else. CSULA ends up in a second bachelor's degree. A major reason I am having trouble deciding is the cost factor. UC Davis is $93,600 and CSULA is $32,000. I would much rather live in Sacramento (have family up there) and there's less traffic than LA. When applying for jobs at hospitals as a new grad nurse, is there any bias/advantage of putting a UC Davis on your resume vs CSULA? Will having a entry level master's from UC Davis make it any easier or harder to get a job right away?
  5. I finally got the official acceptance from the university. Does anyone have any financial aid information/offerings available to them on the GET portal? When I look under that section it has no information listed even though I filled out FAFSA this year.
  6. Congrats everyone! I was also offered a spot. Has anyone's status in GET changed from incomplete to complete or accepted yet? I'm a little nervous since you still have to be accepted by the university
  7. Thank you doularn! I found it. Mine also says "incomplete." I called the admissions office b/c I wanted to make sure they have all my most recent transcripts and they said that it is normal to have the incomplete still. They need to go through the transcripts and verify them or something and then the status will be changed
  8. What section of the GET portal does it show the admissions decision? I've looked all over the portal and don't see anything that mentions admissions.
  9. Anyone know about how many interviews they give?
  10. For anyone wondering stats on number of applicants they received this year: over 440 applications, admitted 70 and have 40 on an alternate list
  11. My portal said "You should soon be hearing.." and I just received my rejection letter in the mail. I figured that's what it meant after seeing others get rejected with that message in previous years and those accepted or on the alternate list still have the "no decision" status.
  12. Hello! I've applied to CSUF ABSN for the fall 2017 cohort. Originally I was on the waitlist for an interview but have been moved up and offered an interview. I am wondering about the program in general. Does anyone who is in the program or know someone in the program have any thoughts about the program? Likes/dislikes? Pros/cons? Stats of what percent of grads are hired before/immediately after graduation? Would anyone in the application process currently like to share why they want to go to CSUF?
  13. Sorry for posting basically the same thing twice!! It looked like my original message wasn't posted
  14. hmm sadly I'm thinking the "You will soon hear" message probably means rejection. At least by digging through the 2014 thread. People that got that message seemed to be rejected. And well, @Monsie86 got accepted and status still says no decision...I don't want to give up all hope yet but it's not looking too good right now
  15. hmm sadly I'm thinking the "You should soon be receiving a response directly from your major program regarding a decision on your application" probably means rejection. At least by digging through the 2014 thread. I saw people that got that message got rejected...
