I am interested in meeting some fellow students who are starting the FIAL NP Program this fall at Thomas Jefferson. I am in DC if anyone is interested in a study group. I am also curious if anyone else was shocked to find out that a fall start will add two semesters to the part-time/ two classes per semester plan of study. Best of luck to all of you! I am a current student in the 2018 accelerated program. If you have other options, I would encourage you to take them. The organization of the accelerated nursing program is a complete disaster. So you understand that I am not just a disgruntled student, I should let you know that I am doing quite well and expect to graduate near the top of my class. You will certainly get the information you need to pass the NLEX and there are some really great professors who teach for the right reasons, but the institution lacks ethics and is an organizational nightmare. Please feel free to ask me any questions you would like. I do not regret my decision to go back to nursing school, but I do regret my decision to attend Duquesne. Information of Note: -The minimum passing rate is 78% (It was 74% when I sent in my deposit.) -You must get a 95% to get an A, and an A- is 92 - 95, etc. So that 91 you worked so hard for is actually just a B+. -If you choose to decelerate (opt for the 16-month program instead of 12-months) after the first semester they will charge you an additional $4200. I believe this information is accurately listed on their website now, but it is not what they informed the students at the beginning of the semester. -There are several classes that you must pass the HESI to pass the class, and if you don't pass the exit HESI, you don't graduate. (I believe the previous class has pursued legal recourse because some students did not bench on the final HESI and therefore were not awarded their degree.) -Many of the tests have less than 40 questions which leaves very little room for error. In most classes there is not any additional points available, so if you have a bad test it can be very difficult to recover. Most students agreed they would prefer more exam questions that better showcases their knowledge.

Hi! Thanks for the info. I am accepted into the Spring 2017 cohort. Do you still feel the same about your living situation? I currently live in SW DC. We were considering moving to Ashburn, however, I was told only the first semester is predominantly in Ashburn and the clinical hours could be anywhere in the DMV. I'll be 42 next month and I am starting the accelerated BSN program At GW in May. My first degree is in history. I quit my job in proposal management last year to complete my prerequisites for the nursing program.
