  1. I want to do a coin flip. Recently I was applying to CRNA school. Someone who cheated the whole time, and got that 4.0, would get an unfair advantage, when the person who didn't cheat could be at a hypothetical disadvantage. When working at a field where lives are in our hands it is essential to know your stuff!
  2. I apologize for my comment and didn't realize the OP has a chemistry degree. Words for wisdom you will have to shine in other aspects. Having just your AA of nursing will put you ad a disadvantage in the application pool. I would advise to find other ways to shine and highlight yourself.
  3. I want to start off with wishing you good luck in your journey for CRNA school. Like many other posters I find many issues with your initial statement. First yes BSN is very important and essential to become a successful SRNA student/provider. You may view these classes as useless, but they are the cornerstone of the profession. Those courses that are more then likely viewed as useless for the cornerstone courses are essential such how to critically analyze research, since the profession is built on a plethora of research. In addition, communication and collaboration is the cornerstone to create the best and safest plan of care. I will say attitude is essential to getting into CRNA programs. For every spot there is 10 applicants. If the initial attitude is the uselessness of the Bachelors degree there are 9 other people who will get that spot over you. I hesitantly would advise that is chemistry and science classes are the upmost important aspect of anesthesia you may want to consider Anesthesia Assistant over CRNA. I promise you I mean no malice or cruelness, but another profespctive form someone in the field.
  4. Happy Holidays to you Grumpy RN!
  5. Ok boomer!!!!! I see you are the issue whoever wrote this article. You are creating a divide that doesn't need to be created. We can also say Boomer nurses are a burden to us. * you don't adapt to technology well burdening us millennial nurses to help you *you steal all the holidays off leaving us younger nurses to work the holidays *you steal all the summer vacations preventing me to have time with my family *You tend to be stagnant in your practice and resist change stagnating nursing care and positive patient outcomes!!!! Glad I am attending graduate school and am out of the bedside ?
  6. Sorry you are dealing with this issue in your program. I was in your situation with respect to people cheating and would really brag about how well they do. One thing I really embrace is whose actions I can control. It is only yourself. You can control your own learning and your own actions. Everyone will take the same NCLEX and fortunately you can't cheat on that exam. Good luck!
  7. Sorry for those who are denied. I am in the program now and I know they had an application surge for this upcomiming class. I wish you all luck I know this wait time is very tough.
  8. I am sorry this person is having issues and ICU doesn't seem like a good fit for her at this point of her career (not as an absolute but maybe time to get med/surg or step down maybe a better fit). I hope your facility is listening to preceptors unlike the hospital I work at. One person we had was unsuccessful and when preceptors expressed concern about her ability they fired the preceptors. Well she went through all the main preceptors and ultimately ended up on the floor.
  9. Please everyone don't think that all of us male nurses share the attitude that cowboy does. Personally if a female prefers a fellow female nurse I will be happy to give away the assignment to a fellow female RN. I feel providing patient with optimal comfort will allow maximum healing. Cowboy I highly suggest you to reconsider your feelings. Being a guy nurse for 10 years and with many experiences. With your attitude toward this feeling I would highly recommend that if you were to get this upset over this to work in a setting where you only take care of males or change your attitude IMMEDIATELY.
  10. I really hope if they are not curving either they really stepped up the game of their lectures or lowered the standard of what they expect students to do on the final. I used Chads videos and they were super helpful as a supplement.
  11. Good luck. This class was probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. * Remember all of your chemistry rules! * I studied/ reviewed all of my tests I took on that class and if I got any wrong I would review the content and make sure I know why I got the question wrong. Take it one question at a time. I ended up with a C+ (or B-) in that class and it got rounded to an A-. Which beyond shocked me.
  12. It usually was 2 weeks before Christmas they historically got to applicants. Which makes a great or crappy Holiday season. I wish you all good luck. For those who got interviewed good luck for those who didn't get in try to get some good reflection on what you can improve on because the competition is strong ICU nurses.
  13. Thank you all for the insight. I personally do not do this practice, but I know we have many nurses who will look up their patients (one in particular comes an hour early). My inquiry was mainly as a fellow staff nurse is there anyway to be supportive of these nurse that will lose this extra time.
  14. Recently our hospital HR/ leadership team made an announcement declaring that nurses are only to be accessing charts when punched in. Personally to me this is a non issue because I show up literally minutes before punching in, however there are nurses who I work with that get there early (sometimes even an hour early). * Just curious if any other hospital has this policy? * If there is a legal issue associated with accessing charts of assigned patients when not punched in? * What can I do to support my peers who have the desire to access patients charts early? Thank you all!
  15. Mickey I think everyone who got accepted or waitlisted got a PDF. Also we got a class list e-mailed out. My recommendation would be to e-mail Daniel.
  16. Sorry Lifelong & Turkeylips I got denied twice before getting accepted. Getting denied truly sucks, but can be a truly humbling experience. You both sound very qualified and sound like great candidates. When I got denied I got suggested to apply to apply again and/or to other schools because your experience, certifications and/or essay may be more appealing to where they are looking for.
  17. I am sorry Turkeylips. Is this the first time you applied? Putting yourself out there and getting denied is a hard process. To put a positive spin you made it through the first round atleast. A great aspect of St. Marys is you can e-mail to get feedback to make your application stronger. Best of luck to you
  18. I am in a first ring suburb. Depending on the time they mailed it I will get it tomorrow or Saturday.
  19. Mine says application under review also.
  20. Welcome to June. Anyone get any news? Still anxiously waiting here.
  21. When I emailed Daniel he said decision letters will be comming out between now and the end of June. We are on the home stretch of this long wait.
