  1. Hi, I am currently in a RN-BSN program and i have to come up with a current issue in Nursing to debate in front of my class. If you know of any good topics/issues please let me know! Thanks
  2. My pinning ceremnoy was May 5th, now i've got 3 more days of my Kaplan review course left, then BIG SCARY Boards!!!!
  3. I am taking Kaplan right now today is our 4th class and so far i am a little dissapointed. I thought they would teach us strategies on how to answer the questions and stuff like that. The only thing strategy wise that have taught us is the "Decision Tree." I thought Kaplan would give me a confidence boost, but it has done the opposite! So far we have been going over question over question. I guess i will be able to tell if it was worth taking the class (which is very expensive) when i take the NCLEX.
  4. Shut Up and Listen doesn't sound to hard, i think i can manage that. thanks
  5. Hi all! I am starting my preceptorship next week on LDRP. I was wondering if those of you who work on LDRP could give me some do's and dont's. This is the first time that this particular hospital unit has let a student work with them. I've heard that this group of RN's are very close knit group and i'm worried about fitting in :uhoh21:. I am hoping it will go really well and they may hire me! Do they typically hire RN's straight out of school?
  6. I am in my last semester of ADN nursing school and i will be continuing to go to school to get my BSN. All of the colleges that i went and talked to about their RN-BSN programs either had full time or part time. Most of the full time courses took about 3 semesters. The part time courses took about 5 semesters. I myself have choosen to go part time and i will graduate with my BSN in December 2007. I know a lot of RN's that went part time and worked full time, but they didn't say it was easy. Also, you have to be careful and know what pre-requisites each college wants their ADN's to have for the RN-BSN. One college that i considered it was required to have History I and II, another Math class, and a literature and a couple other humanities electives. So it may take you only 3 semester fulltime just nursing courses and then probably a whole semester or more of "other" classes.

    thanks for all the advice.
  8. I am in my last semester of nursing school (it is an associate's degree program) and i am thinking about contuining school for a BSN. I'm not really sure what i want to do. I was hoping i could get advice. I work in an ER registering patients. In our Er which is small, there are about 3 RN's with BSN's and the majority of the RN's have an associate's. The Director of our ER only has her Associate's. I was looking at RN job postings online and most said Prefered education: associate's. Do BSN's get paid more? If i did decide to get my BSN will i be to over qualified for some jobs? If i have an Associate's will i be too under qualified for some jobs? Should i work as a nurse for a little while and then go back or should i keep going after graduation? If i do get my BSN should i go part-time to school and work full-time or just the opposite. Keep in my mind that i am 21 years old, not married, no kids, and don't have a whole lot of responsibities right now. iam confused and stressed out about the whole thing. Please help!!!:uhoh21:
  9. The first semester of nursing school i felt like i had been thrown to the wolves. The following semesters get easier, not because of easier material but because you begin to learn what to expect and how nursing school works. Don't freak out if you fail a couple of test. Most all people fail at least once. Then there are some people who are geniuses who ace every single test. I have failed some test and i've always passed with an A or B. Study hard and try not to put things off to the last minute.Pharmacology was the hardest class for me, so pay attention in that class. This is the class that gets people in the most trouble. Don't get discouraged when everything doesn't come out right. You will do fine!! Don't sweat the small stuff!
