  1. Thank you, I appreciate your input.
  2. Hey guys, I am in a bit of an internal dilemma. I am so happy to be graduating in a couple of months with my BSN! I am looking at all of the available opportunities and get more and more excited. I currently live in Jacksonville, FL. I would really love to move to another state and start a brand new adventure as Florida is not my lifestyle, but my parents are really trying to push me to stay here and live at home to save money. While other states pay more for nursing, it is also more costly to live. I know that staying home will allow me to save more money for the future and I would like to be smart, but is it worth it? I would really appreciate some unbiased opinions. Thank you!
  3. Unfortunately the same exact thing happened to me. I hoped for the best with getting my titer after the 3rd vaccine and I was not immune and had to get the full series again. School was not happy, and were not very pleasant when I told them. Which is understandable. However, I was able to finish I just had to send them my status after each step and let them know when my appointments were.
  4. Sorry to hear that you do not feel like this is a good fit for you. If you have to "force" yourself to do something, especially your career, then it might not be the avenue for you. Although I must say, you can be a nurse without being a clinical nurse. Maybe a doctors office is right for you. I hope that whatever you decide, you love it.
  5. One of the many many reasons stem from an experience I had back when I was 15 years old. I was getting my first major surgery and I was petrified. I laid in the pre-op room sweating, just so unsure of what was about to happen. My CRNA came in and I remember him holding my hand and cracking jokes just trying to get my mind off of it. He unsured me he would never leave my side during the surgery, and it made me feel so comfortable knowing I would have some one there that made me feel safe. Best part is that this was not a children's hospital, it was focused more in adult care. After the surgery, I had to stay for 3 days on a unit. The same CRNA came to see me every single day. I know he did not have to do that, but he went out of his way for me. He made that impact on me and I want to make that impact on someone else when they go into surgery. I am trying to begin, as a BSN student, on a research project with a professor. And with the help of a doctor I have become very close with over the past year, begin an ICU job when I finish school in May. I will take some extra classes when I am working to bring up my science GPA and intend to get CCRN certified once my criteria is met. I hope that even though they see my GPA during nursing school may only end up as 3.4-3.5, I am making up for it with more classes and pushing myself in extra classes and other areas. Thank you for the post!
  6. My school taught us how to do IV insertions half way through the program and had us do at least 3 in the clinical setting in order to pass.
  7. I am currently a nursing student, graduating this year with my BSN. My current GPA is subpar, at just above a 3.2. As test taking is not my specialty, I excel in clinical practice. Upon graduation I intend to retake science class to help my GPA, and I intend to involve myself in hospital committees and leadership roles. Is there anything else I can do to help my chances into a CRNA school? I know this is the career path for me, and I really do not want GPA to be the reason I do not get an opportunity to prove it.
  8. Nursing school is extremely hard. Hours in the library studying, papers, projects, not to mention hours of clinical times. In school I have cried, I have screamed, I have felt like giving up. But the moment you pass a class, the moment you make your patient laugh when they are in pain, the moment when your professor pats you on the back, are going to be the moments that make it all worth it. So, would I do it all again? In a heartbeat. Don't give up, accept the fear you have and let it be your motivator to prove to yourself that you can do this.
