I would tell you that obviously having a Medical Backround, high GPA, high HESI, and volunteer service are going to make you the strongest candidate. One of the greatest things about SMU is their ability to look a candiate as complete package, and not just your GPA or HESI score. If your a person coming into nursing from a second carrier and school is new again, they can understand that and see why you wouldn't have the highest grades for math and science because you haven't been in school for 20 years. I would also tell you that the time of year you apply will also dramatically change the volume of candiates your competing with, if you apply in spring you will be dealing with a smaller candidate pool vs fall when everyone applies. If you are worried about your application not looking strong enough, I would think about how you can make yourself look more "diverse" because that is the heart of what SMU loves to look for their canidates. I love my cohort, we have a mixed bag of people and personalities all from different back rounds, ages, and experiences, we are extremely diverse. Hope this helps, good luck getting in.
