I'll be starting on May 4th right on the infectious disease unit, right in the middle of a pandemic. Yayyyy me! LOL. No but seriously. I'm excited but very nervous. Didn't think I was going to make it because I just took my boards 12 days ago. I'll be moving from Florida.

Yea I honestly think its a crap shoot for NCLEX. Every single test is going to be different. For instance I didn't get any endocrine questions at all. Not one. When I took my LPN boards the last half of the test was sata at least 30 questions, shut off at 85 and was convinced I failed. I feel as though you need to be mentally prepared for anything for the NCLEX. Don't go off any one person experience.

Yes all test was canceled because they closed all the testing centers they just recently started opening them back the last week in march but from what I saw when I tried to schedule my test their is only two centers open in the state of florida right now. As far as the test I didn't think it was easier. I didn't get any indication they lowered the passing standard. Still the same standard just less questions now to prove competency. As far as my exam their was still A LOT of sata questions. If I had to count I probably got between 15-20 at most it was 25 but they kept coming. I got A LOT of priority questions. Which pt would you see first, what would be the nurse best action, what would be the nurse first priority, etc. A lot of teaching/education questions. A few delegation. There was like 4 drag and drop, a few exhibit questions, two image questions and I received questions from all disciplines. peds, medsurg, psych, OB, and pharmacology. There was more pharmacology questions then I cared to have probably about 8-10. I remember when I took my LPN I only had one.

They did not provide any mask. They make you go to the bathroom and wash your hands soon as you come in. They provide hand sanitizer. and they wipe the computers down after each use because I saw them do it when I left. and of course they can't fill up the test center because they make sure everyone is sitting six feet apart.

I received my ATT on 4/7/20 went to schedule the exam the only date I saw was for 4/8/20. I freaked out but I took it not knowing when the next available date would be. I took it this morning, computer shut off at 101. I did the PVT trick and got the good pop up. I'm hoping I passed. I will probably not sleep tonight. The anxiety!

I'm in Florida and I graduated in December also and had a job offer by February. However I must note that I'm single with no kids and I applied to multiple out of state positions. The job I accepted is out of state. I was willing to pack up and go where ever the job offer took me.

I'm also coming from out of state (Florida) I'm due to start orientation on May 4th. I just took the NCLEX this morning and I'm freaking out. I tried the PVT and got the "good pop up" so I'm REALLY hoping that's a good sign and it translate to me passing. I hate worrying and I know I will get ZERO sleep tonight. Anywho I received a email from nurse recruitment and as of right now orientation is being held via zoom and the employee health appt for all May starts for out of state new hires is being done remote. They said they will send out a new email with additional information.

I wore business casual to the actual interview and then changed into scrubs for the "shadow time" on the unit.

I interviewed on the infectious disease/pulmonary hypertension unit. My interview was at 10:00am but I had to be at the hospital by 9:30am. I didn't leave until 2:30pm. It's a long day so be prepared. If you have multiple interviews that day your day is going to be longer. The questions were mostly behavioral. "Tell me about a time you have a difficult situation with a patient?, "Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a coworker?" etc. Your personality should show through the interview and the share time on the floor. My biggest advice is just be pleasant, speak to everyone, and don't be nervous.

Hey everyone, After approximately one week after my interview I received a email this morning congratulating me and that I would be receiving a offer letter of employment! Super excited! This has been such a long journey and I finally made it.

Hey everyone! Thought I would jump on this thread. I received a invitation to interview for the infectious disease/pulmonary hypertension unit at Johns Hopkins. Super Stoked. I just graduated in December 2019.

Recording the lectures is specific to each professor as you need their permission to record. Some will allow it some will say absolutely not. I rarely used the text. Most professors teach off their PowerPoints.

Yes I did work 3 days a week 12-13 hour shifts. But I worked nights and was able to study most times.

Hey everyone! Wow glad to see this thread is still active. I was the original poster that posted the thread almost three years ago as I was looking to bridge into an RN program. WOW time flies! I’m currently finishing up my second semester at Mercy. I start my LAST semester on 8/26. So excited! If you all have any questions I will try my best to answer them. Good luck to you all!

Honestly I didn't study. Your best option would probably be to do practice questions through uworld or nclex mastery. Do practice questions. Read rationales. Pay extra attention to maternity.

I didn't think the test was that difficult. It's basic nursing knowledge. Nothing over the top. They did have lots of Maternity questions in the test though.

Update: I got accepted to the program! See everyone at orientation next month.

Update: I took the entrance exam yesterday and passed. Hopefully I get accepted in the school for the August start date. Fingers crossed!

Congrats on passing the exam! I take my exam on May 7th and hoping to start with the August class as well. What was your exam score if you don't mind sharing?

Hey give an update on the exam content if you can. I heard it take taking the nclex all over again and it will be a little of everything in the exam.

Under the laws enforced by EEOC, it is illegal to discriminate against someone (applicant or employee) because of that person's race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to retaliate against a person because he or she complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. Therefore "technically" a place of employment cannot deny you from doing a job just because you are a male, however they are most likely not going to tell you you didn't get the job because you are a male.
