  1. I also live in LA county and have been fortunate enough to land a CNA job at my local hospital recently. It's definitely been a huge game changer. I originally was set on attending CSUSM prior to it, but I'm now heavily considering taking the ADN route, then RN-BSN/MSN after. This way I can work, stay local and pay off tuition along the way. The biggest factor, like you've mentioned is networking, most especially with how saturated the current market is. I have one coworker who was recently offered an RN position before she even graduated, and she's only worked as a CNA for 6mos -- again, the key element being that she got her foot in, grabbed the opportunity by the tail and ran with it. Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences!
  2. Thank you, this definitely provides me with a better picture of how scheduling works if given the opportunity to proceed with the program. I'm also a bit torn because I've recently been offered admission at GWC to pursue my ADN and I'm hoping to apply for an RN-BSN program at a CSU after. On the upside, it's cost effective (6k-10k for ADN, 13k-15k for RN-BSN) and they may potentially hold clinicals at the hospital that I currently work in. The only down side is that it will take one year longer. I'd love to continue w/ San Marcos if given the chance, but the cost and distance kills me. Is anyone in the same situation?
  3. Yes. I made the request to defer recently. I suppose it takes awhile for it to be updated.
  4. Hello everyone, I originally applied for the summer term but asked to be deferred for the fall term due to work. Does anyone know if it's possible to work while in the program (perhaps the first few terms?) and how the scheduling works for classes and clinicals? Thanks in advance for the input!
  5. Hi everyone, I just received an admittance letter today. Be on the lookout -- those letters are on their way!
