Path to CRNA
Hello there everyone, I am currently in a BSN program at Molloy and will be graduating with my BSN Spring 2020. Very exciting. However, my end goal is to be a CRNA and I'm very aware of the long road I have ahead of me. I have become familiar with the enormous change that has taken place where as of 2025 you will need a doctorate to become a CRNA. Now here is my main question. Will I need a DNP or a DNAP to be a CRNA? I've read several forms that it's either or but I need a concrete answer so I know what I need to be aiming for. Also to enter the appropriate doctorate degree to be a CRNA, what masters degree should I pursue specifically since there will no longer be anymore specializing in anesthesia? Please help! I know its early in the game, but I like to prepare as early as possible to limit any reasons why I could be denied entrance to my dream program. Thank you for your time.

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
Yes I decided to stick with Molloy. I haven't gotten enough student loans so I picked up a second job to pay off a few debts quicker and to cover my fall tuition. So hopefully I should be fine for the spring to take out loans.

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
Hi @trav91 my gpa was 3.3. I think you should deff give it a shot. I don't remember what their minimum requirements are for a gpa but they take a lot of applicants in. I would apply as soon as possible because I noticed in the beginning its a smaller amount of applicants that they tend to accept most of them in. Once the applications start picking up speed and pouring in, then they get more picky. So I'd send in my app soon if I were you.

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
@Gubba Yes I am currently working. It just really sucks if I have to wait a whole other semester because that puts me back from when I anticipated to be done. And the Financial aid office isn't much help for dual degree students, we get no financial assistance any more so it's out of their hands.

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
So I'm having some issues with finding loans to cover my tuition. I only got 12,500 for the year from federal loans so that leaves me with minimum a gap of 20k not including the summer and winter sessions we have to take to finish on time. I'm actually really stressed because I decided to try my luck and apply for one today. And got declined. So now it's safe to say I'm in panic mode. Advice? Tips? Help?

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
Hey @gubba I believe it does put me back a semester but I'm trying to see if there is any way I can speed up the process. My appt to come in and speak to them is in may so we'll see. And @Nurse52392 I'm pretty sure it's a rolling admission, I think they don't have a specific deadline they just accept until the seats are full. And my pre-req gpa is about 3.8 but my reg bachelor gpa is 3.3.

@Gubba The math test is ALOT like the review sheet they gave you. Make sure you know how to do each of those problems like the back of your hand because you're only allowed to have two wrong to pass or else you have to take a remedial math. They give you an hour for the math, I used the entire time and did each problem like three times to make sure I got the right answers. It's 20 questions. The english part was a whole different story, it's two sections. First section is 100 questions and you get 15 minutes. Second section is I believe like 36 questions in 20 minutes. I felt like it was more of a race than anything else to finish as many questions as you can. I ended up missing the cut by .2 of a point so I have to re-take English 101 :/

Your Molloy ID is on the top right corner of any of the letters they've sent out to you. Should be like six digits. Then you go put that ID in and click forget password. It'll send you an email to the email address you submitted your application with a new password. Once you're in find admission status and it tells you where you are at in the stages.

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
@Gubba yea that's the only reason I'm okay with it, is because I know I won't be too overwhelmed on the new pay scale. My degree was in Corporate communications with a concentration in marketing. Very big change lol just like you coming from finance.

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
Hi guys. I have a 3.3 GPA just like you @Gubba so I'm sure you'll be okay and get in. I actually just met with financial aid and its going to cost me a pretty penny. It sucks because since we already completed our Bachelors we really don't get any aid anymore so we're looking at paying full price for the tuition. But hey, anything for the dream right? And yes it's 2 years if you completed all your pre-reqs if not then you're looking at 2.5-3 years. I have all mine except for organic and nutrition and now I have to take ENG 101 like I mentioned before, but I believe I'll also be taking NUR 129 and NUR139 as well this fall so it only sets me back a tiny bit. I paid my $400 deposit today and handed in the stamped confirmation to admissions. The woman told me now I just have to wait for a letter with an appt date and time to come in to register for my first semester with a counselor. I also printed out my health forms to get a head start on that.

Lol don't apologize, you're not being annoying! And yes I got that same exact letter saying they were going to let me know when the tests were. Then I got another letter with the dates for them. I took them on March 13th and they made a decision about 10 days later which is a pretty good turn around. You can PM me if you have anymore questions, plus it would be nice to start getting to know who I will be in the program with! (Don't worry you'll get in!!!)

Dual Degree Molloy Fall 2017
@Gubba I applied about mid-feb. I received a letter in the mail yesterday. I had called last week being curious about my status and the woman told me that a decision had been made on 3/22 and that my letter was sent. I asked if she knew what the decision was but she said I had to wait for the actual letter. On the letter it said I needed to take ENG 101 again even though I already have it because I scored a 13.8 on their English placement exam when you need a 14 to pass. It also said I had to schedule an appointment with the financial aid office asap to go over my loan options to cover the tuition. And it said to pay a non-refundable deposit of $400 to save myself a seat in the nursing program. My appointment with financial aid is tomorrow morning.
