If the patient is competent and aware of the medications, the reason why they are being administered and so forth then yes it is unethical to be hiding it from them. However if the patient has advance dementia and really does not have sound judgement then there is no hurting in a little white lie here and there. Just make sure that you are in fact reviewing the medications and they are necessary. Often times I find that some prescriptions for certain medications are weeks old and the patient does not even need them. If the patient has dementia and is non compliant then you can always crush the medications, mix it with a little pudding or so forth. If her problem is that you are giving too many medications at the same time then you can try spacing the medications out throughout the day.

I would seriously consider leaving this place. You are putting your license at risk. It is simply not worth it. Start applying for local hospitals and get the first opportunity you can. Hospitals are usually more responsible in the way they train their nurses and you have more support along the way. Not to mention you are going to get paid more, get better experience and have more opportunities for advancements. Nursing homes offer limited opportunities and a lot of hospitals don't even consider it acute care experience. It is one of those jobs that you have for a few months while you look for something else. This is a blessing in disguise and should be a wake up call to move on. Good luck to you. Don't beat yourself about what happened. Every nurse makes mistakes when they first start off. I know I made a few. The important thing is for you to recognize the mistakes and learn from them. The patient to nurse ratio in your facility is absolutely horrible.

I don't want to scare you but the market. Is completely saturated with new graduates for nursing. Hospitals don't want people without experience. Unfortunately they got their pick of the litter here in Miami. There is a shorting of nurses in the US but certainly not in Miami. Make sure you start networking ahead of time in the hospitals you do your clinicals rotations. If not, get ready for a few months search. Now if you move further up north like in Tampa or West like Texas you will get a job within a week. I got a few offers from other states even giving me a sign on bonus for new grads. That is how desperate they are. But not here in Miami. I managed to land in a hospital here in Miami but I can't help but think I got lucky. A bunch of my classmates still haven't found job or even landed an interview.

Hi guys hope everyone is doing good and got accepted into the program. Anyways, the reason why i am writing this is because i have a couple of books that are used in the program for sale. I finished the program on May of this year. I have the Med Surg textbook 13th edition. It is used in 2nd semester and 4th semester. It is volume 1 and 2 (you need both of them for the class). The books are in good condition and there are only a few pages highlighted. Nothing too bad. If anyone is interested i also have the pharmacology textbook but it is the 8th edition. I don't know if that is the one they are still using.

Maybe get a nanny that can pick up the kids after school on those specific days and take care of the. for a few hour? In this economy there are always people looking to supplement their salaries with outside gigs. You should be able to find someone to help you.

I am in my third semester. It is really up to you. I am guessing if you do decide to take both classes on the same day that means you would have an extra day off. If I remember correctly pharmacology only meets once a week. That extra day of not having to travel to school could be helpful. Saves you time and gas money. It all depends on how you break your study time. I had it on different days. Also remember that if you take them together there is a higher chance of you having some tests for both classes on the same day which could prove troublesome. Both classes are hard but overall Med Surg tends to give students a harder time. Be careful.

Sounds like you check all the boxes to be able to go into the accelerated program. After the first semester it eases up quite a bit. Go for it.

I am currently in the ASN program over at MDC. I should graduate on April of next year. Financially speaking MDC is gonna make a lot more sense. From what i heard the Nova program is more strict than MDC. I can tell you that so far in my class out of the 50 or so students that started with me about 15 or so have failed and we are halfway through the program. I personally don't find the school as challenging as everyone made it out to be but at the end of the day it is the HESI exit exam and the NCLEX that will determine whether you were successful or not. The moment you set foot in nursing everything you do revolves around that exam and you passing it. Every question, every assignment revolves around NCLEX preparation. If you have any particular questions about the school just let me know. One thing you need to keep in mind is that your only 19 years old. You have plenty of time. Take it easy...its okay if school takes you an extra year.

The schedule is very similar for both sequences what changes the most are the times for clinicals.

Almost nobody reads the complete full assignments given. By the time you finish reading the chapter you have forgotten half of what you read. It is better if you go to class, see what the teacher emphasized on each chapter and then go an elavorate a little bit more in the book. I do a lot of study questions from each chapter that way i know if i grasped the material. The rationales from the questions also help me a lot. I have done pretty good so far in my nursing school.

First semester is not that bad. People struggle the most with Fundamentals. But most people end up passing the class. The grade you get in the class is gonna depend largely on how much time you put into th subject and unfortunately what teacher you get. I have noticed that there is a big difference in test questions depending on what teacher you get. Some professors just don't guide you when it comes time to study and that means that you will have to spend hours and hours reading the book

Yeah took it last year. You don't need to bring anything. It's pretty simple and straight forward.

Lol I was the exact same position as all you guys a few months ago. Halfway through my second semester at the moment. Don't stress out the grand majority of you guys are going to get in. Acceptance in this program is really not that hard looking at it in hindsight. Word of advice guys...when orientation comes around they are going to push you guys to buy all your uniforms from the bookstore. You can do that buy always keep in mind you can find them at other uniform stores much cheaper. They are going to tell you it is not allowed but it is total BS. Most of the teachers don't care. Also they are going to tell you to buy a lab bag that costs around $100. Be careful you specify that it is the one you need for nursing program because last semester they sold some bags with the wrong stuff and those people ended up buying the bags for nothing. Lol I know how you guys are feeling. I was this same way last year at this time. If it makes you feel better as long as you get around 80 on HESi you will get in í ½í±

My fundamental class starts at 8:00 am as well as the skills class. They are on two separate days. The clinicals start at 7:00 am. I go to the medical campus. Sorry but waking up early is part of this program lol.

3.3 GPA is fine as long as you get like around an 85 on the HESI

Clinicals on weekdays end at 3 pm but most teachers actually let you go home before that. But it depends on the professor

So far everything has been going good. The program keeps you busy but it is not impossible. Most of the teachers I have I can tell are really freaking good. They are very helpful but they do expect you to study. They will only hold your hand for so long. As far as the schedule go, I have school every day except Thursday. On Monday I have to be at school pretty much the whole day. On Friday I have clinicals and I have to stay at the nursing home the whole day. Tuesday and Wednesday I only have school for a couple of hours.

Make sure you score really high on the HESI entrance examination. High 80s but preferably 90s. Your GPA is not doing you any favors.
