Advice- moved to level 1 MICU
Thank you! I have asked various nurse friends and we all agree we would have given the lovenox. The director just said my name was in the chart, could not confirm I administered the blood products. Unsure if just picking on me? The unit is not too fond of her, however.

Advice- moved to level 1 MICU
Soo I recently made the switch from a small ICU unit to a MICU in a level 1 teaching hospital. Just some background, I have 1 year ICU experience. Ever since my arrival, I have felt the staff not be the most welcoming and setting me up for failure? To make matters worse, long story short I had a pt with chest tube, requiring replacement overnight (I am day shift); chest tube must have not been sutured in correctly, bleeding from entrance site-- after night shift applying pressure and re-suture-- no more bleeding. Patient hgb stable-relatively unchanged. I arrive in AM, labs look fine, assess site again no bleeding- I give AM lovenox (70mg). Night shift charge heard about it filed incident report- unit director asking me to now verify all my meds with preceptor-- director stating giving the lovenox to a bleeding patient was a new grad thing. Clarified with their was a thought process to it-- pt showed no signs of bleeding for me, PLT and labs looked fine. Fast forward to end of my orientation, director accusing me of giving blood products to a patient without consent-- her excuse my name was in the chart. I said no, that was not me, I am proactive and always get consents or verify before doing anything. I can guarantee that was not me. Given I am new and rememeber the times I have given blood products during my orientation. My director, however, was focused on making her point of view and stated to not forget to complete the basic tasks (such as obtaining consent before hanging blood products). Ever since I started at this facility, I am unhappy. Shift anxiety to the max! Today is my off day before working my first 3 in a row, by myself, off orientation. I just feel like I am constantly walking on egg shells and my job is at jeopardy. Any advice?!??

Can't find a job, HELP
I have applied numerous times to Banner Health's generic new grad position and have received no luck. It has been about two months since that. - I have applied approximately 10 times to different new grad positions with Honor Health. I was able to complete a phone screening with a recruiter for a position but denied as they went with an internal candidate. -I have an interview next week at Tempe St. Lukes.. Can anyone provide any feedback? --Any guidance is appreciated! I am having minimal luck.. I know if needed nursing homes are always hiring but I would really like to practice in an acute care setting! Also if it matters I have my BSN.

Infection Control issue? - Pre-set up of yaunker and tubing to wall suction "just in case"
Outpatient surgery here. We do the same thing, as far as pre set up. Quality did not like yankaeur attached to tubing, yankauer must be un opened! I recommend changing it, as your gut is telling you similar.

Repeated failure? Feeling like nursing isnt for me
Soooooo, Background information on myself, I have been a CNA, going on three years now , 2 in a nursing home and now at an inpatient rehab hospital. I have completed my pre-reqs for both the associate and bachelor program in my area. I REALLY wanted to get my BSN but I cant beat the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. I took it a year ago and got a 63% overall, and that is with no studying. I retook it just this past week and received a 69% overall. I was not expecting that score at all, as I really did study alot for the exam. I am ganna try for both the BSN and ADN program next time. A HUGE part of me just wants to give up nursing, as from my exam scores its not for me.

CNA leaving rooms a mess
The way it works at my job is that night shift gets everyone up , they have showers on nights (Bed B) and day shift showers bed A, anytime in our day. I go in to work at 645,breakfast starts at 715 , so all patients should be up by time I get there. My problem is that they are leaving all beds undone, trashes a mess. The nurses can see the trash cans and sharps full but never change them. A nurse taking out the trash in patients room? HHAHAHAA please! As for the sharps, they continue to use them past the fill line,

CNA leaving rooms a mess
Lately, I have been super irritated with the fact that the CNA I receive the assignment from is leaving the rooms a mess. I am talking beds undone, trash cans full of trash, dirty linen hampers full, no gloves in the rooms, sometimes even commodes with urine. I would understand if it was a couple of rooms that were left undone because it gets really busy at times but mostly ALL the rooms are turned into me like that, is extremely unfair. NEVER HAVE I EVER turned in my rooms like that to my relief, I make sure there is no trash whatsoever, and in my case (day shift) all or mostly all patients are in bed. We do bedside report at my facility but it still does not help, they leave a mess regardless. I am getting to the point where I spend at least an hour or sometimes even two of my shift, stripping or making beds, taking out trash, placing new trash bags, stocking up rooms with gloves, emptying sharps containers. I am unsure what to do now? PLEASE HELP! As a side note, these CNAs are just dirty, its not like they just turn in the assignment to me a mess, they do that with everyone.
