  1. Well at least I know i have one speck of nursing down. Thanks for responding. Its so easy to over analyze stuff right now.
  2. Hello, Im finishing my last semester of ADN. So I'm feeling the pressure of in a couple short months transitioning into a nursing role. Im a waitress right now and today i got scammed by a hustler. I felt so stupid for the mistake I made and am beating myself up over it. Im the person where i normally learn from my mistakes the first time and TRUST me, I won't make this one again. I'm also kinda clumsy sometimes, during clinical I fumble a little bit with flushing IV's and such. it got me wondering.... can I still become a good nurse? Do you ever get kinda clumsy while working as a nurse or make silly mistakes?
  3. Hi, also a csn student. The idea behind the pre reqs are these are the classes required to get in. You should have the biol 189 since thats the gateway to other biol. Also at least have a/p 1 finished before entering the program since that gives you a little bit of the foundation. Math, eng, psy are good classes since they really tie into the basics. General ed classes are the classes that are ok to take once accepted (deadlines with those once accepted) ... the reality is, without those classes your points won't be very high. Competition is getting fierce and I personally wouldn't try without them. I couldn't imagine doing this program AND taking general education classes. I guess you could apply for a certain semester and if you have a empty semester in between program starting, you can finish the general educations requirements. So if you don't get in, next time you will be ready with extra points. When I applied I had to take the Kaplan, It was very heavy on a/p2 on the science portion. Im not sure how the teas is.
  4. How about just applying anywhere and everywhere? It seems from your posts that you are only trying to get into a hospital. There is many other places that use CNAs such as LTC. Valley Hospital is a big teaching center. my friend works there as a CNA. Another friend in the nursing program works at a LTC facility per diem but could probably work more if wanted too. There are CNA jobs out there but you might need to broaden your search. Good luck to you.
  5. I heard that there is a 3 month waiting period in between TEAS test takes. But I heard recently that they got away from that. not sure how accurate it is. I heard HESI was the hardest of the tests so hopefully you'll pass the TEAS no problem. When I got into the program it was the kaplan and it was tough but i don't have anything else to compare it too. If you take the TEAS exam that covers the entrance exam for both NSC and CSN. So try both. CSN accepts the most in the valley but i heard it is getting tougher to get in because of changes around the valley. Wish you the best.
  6. You should still try to apply to UNLV. You never know. Maybe you'll get in. Also try for NSC and CSN. Why not? I think it is worth a shot if you want to be a RN.
  7. Hi! Maybe check into seeing a doctor. i used to have anxiety attacks. Went to a doctor before and he prescribed me anti depressants (didn't help me but maybe it will for you). I stopped taking those within a week. I told myself "this is something I'll just have to deal with forever" so later on I went back to a different doctor for something completely non related. Turns out his speciality was endocrinology and he ran some tests and prescribed "natural" meds. I was a little weary if it would do anything. It did though! After 3 months, my body got over the attacks and I wean myself off the meds. I haven't had any in over a year. So long story short, it might be something deeper which is making you feel this way. Worth maybe getting it looked into. 🙂
  8. Hi! From what I can remember... reading: I would do a lite read through the passage and look at the question. Than go back to the area in question and reread. I felt some of the answers to choose from where a little tricky in sense of answer that could be implied but wasn't actually said. so I would ask myself "what is actually being said here ?" Than select the answer accordingly. I score the highest in this category writing: this area I actually failed the first time and had to retake KAT because of this stupid section. Lol i would lightly read the passage but don't think too much on it. I do it to get an idea what it is about. know what subject-verb agreements. Refresh your self with what parts of sentence are: prepositions, adverbs , etc. a lot of questions asking to omit a sentence or where you would move a sentence. Which sentence had a mistake. I can only remember 1-2 questions where the mistake was very obvious. Math: brush up on fractions and percentages. Felt like this was pretty easy math. One question I remember was a nurse has this amount of meds, patient needs this much then and this much later does she have enough? It was fractions. Science: this is ALL a&p. All question I remember is the blood flow of the heart. It was a lot of stuff on ap2. Renal, cardio, respiratory, renal etc. hope this kinda helps. Good luck!!
  9. 37 full time no memo. There is also a FB page "csn 2017 hopefuls " or something along that you can join. A lot of us that applied are on there . :)
  10. Memos are for those that didn't meet the cut offs for the KAT it's another set of scores (below passing) that they will give you a memo. So everyone that doesn't have a memo will be first and IF there is still room they will look at people with memos and add those in.
  11. I think they are both unlimited but with 3 months in between tests for both.
  12. I think you can submit your application a month before the deadline. I think when you are accepted they will go over immunizations at orientation. Probably can go and make sure that they are all up to date now to make sure you don't have to stress about it later.
  13. You can make an appointment after you turned it in your application? I was thinking about making an appointment to go over it then turn it in. Do you know if that is something I can do ?
  14. I haven't! I've only seen the posts that were created back 2015. I'll have to check them out
  15. Thank you! When I talked to a advisor they told me it wasn't necessary to make an appointment with limited entry and that they would double check the application. So I think I'll an appointment with the limited entry lady too. Just to double check on everything. Thank you for replying! Are you in the program?
