  1. Well here goes. Several years ago while trying to get in I made the instructor mad because I wasn't a "yes" man. She has retired and one of her co-workers got promoted to instructor. Every year something is wrong; had to take NET twice; both times made low 90's. I don't believe I'll get accepted this year either as I believe the previous instructor is on the selection committee. Also there is a very real possibility that the present instructor is under her very controling thumb. I will have to rent a place and go elsewhere to school. Too bad as this house is paid for but what can you do when someone is spiteful and hateful? Can't wait for her to die you know; she'll probably outlive me. I was told about 6 years ago by a NP in Cape that you HAVE to be a "yes" man. So true.
  2. I answered this subject but the post never came up. Maybe because I didn't have anything positive to say?
  3. It is a private college; almost $300 per credit hr. If you get tuition assistance or want to sign to work for the hospital, I guess that might be acceptable for some. Easy to get into, has lots of admissions and high non- completion rate. Some drop out for various reasons, some don't make the grade necessary. Go to the search and put in Southeast Hospital. Read esp. about the requirement to take wharever reqs. you might require when you enroll there. You have to take them there, can be very expensive if getting no asst. Can tell a little more but would have to be in an e-mail; send to [email protected]
  4. This college recently raised their fees per credit hour to $284. If you take pre-reqs and/or non-credit courses through them it is still same charge. Oh yeah, you sign a paper that restricts you to taking ALL acedemic courses through them, so you are obligated at that point. Better to take all pre-reqs at the university as it's cheaper per credit hour. Also the pre-req instructors that teach are the same instructors at the university;so you get the same instructors regardless. A private college can and does charge more.
  5. Yes, all this has been going on since last fall where I'm attending school. Some of the LPN's that are doing thr bridge program think that they are "superior" than everybody else. There are small groups that ignore others, either won't look at them, or look through them, you don't exist to them and don't ever think that you can talk to them; they are unapproachable. Is this the norm for nursing school or do I just have the misfortune to be in a group of b's? Most of them hate our one black student, who is super intelligent and they hate anyone who has anything to do with her. Yeah, these people who have no feelings, have hate inside, are going to be RN's one day and you might be one of their patients, who knows? Have any suggestions for me? I thought women in their 30's and 40's would be mature enough to realize that they are NOT superior or better than others. :angryfire
  6. I would think that they know there is a better quality of people and life in general there and they want a piece of it for themselves. May not ever admit it though the actions speak for themselves. I guess if there was enough out-of-state people in one area they could have their own little "town" with its distinct flavor.:)
  7. Hopefully by the time I get there some native Tennesseans will still be around.:chuckle A place where my southern accent won't be hated and I won't be thought of as illiterate or ignorant because of my accent.:rotfl: Most people here in SE Missouri can't stand true southerners.
  8. We are planning to move somewhere southwest of Knoxville, like Harriman, Kingston, somewhere between these and Oakridge or Knoxvlle. Need to be in the country, have a few acres, garden, etc. Peace and quiet.
  9. Right now I'm in MO, plan to move to east TN. You are very fortunate.:)
  10. I just started nursing school (RN) and need advice about HH. What do I need to specialize in when I get my initial working experience in a hospital in order to have more of a chance to get a HH job? I am an older woman and I won't be able to walk concrete for 12 hours+ for years and years. I already know that I'll love L&D but realize I might have to do some other field in order to secure the HH job later. Please advise. :) PS -Plan on getting one year experience here in MO and move to TN where my heart is. Will have to work in a hospital there too before seeking the HH. Sure is tough living somewhere you'd rather not be.
  11. Dear Fergfrog, Your words are encouraging. What is it about the place that is so "heavenly"? I 'm sure the land is beautiful though I've haven't visited there yet (live in Missouri) I guess I could stand nosiness some as I have nothing to hide and can give a dose of that medicine back if need be LOL. What the main attraction is for me is the abundance of IFB churches in Harriman, Kingston and Knoxville. It is pretty dead here spiritually speaking and I'm sick of it and the attitude of these 'mules". :rotfl:
  12. LOL, just started nursing school. Will be moving somewhere in this general area in 3-4 years. So any advice about anything would be appreciated. Want to live some where that allows chickens and can have a garden and NO close nosy neighbors. Final goal is to work in home health eventually. Thanks for your response, Wanda
  13. Looking for info on place to work as RN. Would like rural type area in which to live though. Any info on places of employment or living areas that I should check out further would be appreciated. Also any places to avoid would be appreciated. Thank you in advance, Wanda
  14. Please say it ain't so! I'm starting my general ed. requirements next week for RN training. Main purpose was to be able to move to a friendly place in TN. My beloved south, Dixie, in other words. Of course it will be in about 3-4 years as I want at least 1 year working before a move unless something comes up in the area I want to move to and they will hire me as a new grad. :wink2:
