  1. Hi there! Go ahead and try to message me on Facebook! Dara Lan should be pretty easy to find!
  2. Hi there! That is so exciting!!! you can go ahead and try to facebook message me maybe? Im pretty there are very little Dara Lan on facebook! I live in Des Moines currently, where are you moving to in IA? Good luck!!!!
  3. I was on student visa before IA and applied for OPT. Conexus has immigration attorney team that has been working closely with me since I got hired. We finally finalized all the paperwork and they are submitting my green card application any day now. My nursing license was originally registered in NH, a compact state, which IA is as well so I dont need to switch ?
  4. It absolutely is possible still!! You never know. Sometimes, it's just all about the timing and I guess my timing just wasn't right at the time!
  5. Hello fellow international nurses, My name is Dara and I am originally from Taiwan and I got my first BS in California and later got my BSN through a fast track program in New Hampshire. I am currently employed under Conexus, in a skilled nursing home in Iowa for 2 months and I absolutely love my patients, my coworkers and my managers. This is all thanks to Conexus Medstaff, and I am seriously speaking from the bottom of my genuine heart!!!! Like a lot of new international nurse graduates, I was extremely worried about finding a hospital that would sponsor me a work visa. I am not American but I've lived in America almost half my life and nowhere feels more like home than this country. So I was very excited when I found Conexus on a random google search whim and extremely grateful when they brought me on board. Everyone I've interacted with at Conexus was super friendly and supportive. They're always very quick at answering any questions I have. They have partnerships with many hospitals and LTC facilities all over the country. They let me list out places I desired to work and tried their best to match them. However, as a new graduate nurse very little experience, choices understandably become more limited. Though nursing home may not have been my first choice at first, I now cannot imagine working my first nursing job anywhere else. I mean this is also what nursing is about right, being open and flexible to all kinds of experience, there is always opportunity to learn anywhere! People often have such negative views on nurses who work in LTC but honestly the patient demographic in these facilities is changing so fast and people are getting sicker. I am constantly doing wound care/wound vac, foley care, blood draws, etc. It's a lot harder than people think it is with lots of time management skills and critical judgment. Sorry.. I totally digressed... I get so riled up when it comes to LTC nursing now HAHA. Back to Conexus. Irene, my operation manager, was absolutely a great delight! Conexus flew me from NH to IA a a little over week prior to my job start date to check out the area and visit my work facility. Before we met up, Irene kept checking up on me via email/phone, helping me finding apartments, furnitures etc. When we got to Iowa, we went everywhere from different restaurants, to parks, to this cute little Dutch town with stunning tulips. To me, it felt like Conexus didn't just care about whether we have a good work experience, but they also want to make sure that life outside of work is good too because we all know how hard nursing can be and we all need places to decompress from time to time. They paid for my traveling fees, my hotel stays, first month of rent, which was such a big help when starting in a new place, a new life. Irene was constantly checking up on me when work started, asking whether I was adjusting alright. She even sent me a couple job listing for my boyfriend because at the time he was looking for a job out here as well so he could move here with me. I just felt SO supported and that is one of the biggest reason I love Conexus. It doesn't stop at finding the job only. Anyway, this is my little spiel on my experience with Conexus. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them! Today's my day off after 3 12hr shifts... so BACK TO SLEEP NOW! ?
