Microbiology Spring 2007
Yikes! What's up with everyone grading on 3.0 scales? I guess it's to prepare us for our tough future in Nursing school! I am so proud of you, an A!!!!!! I think that calls for a Margarita or two! Hehe! You must feel like a million bucks! I don't believe the tour was offered to our class. However, Mack did mention to us the last day of class that if we ever had an oppertunity to tour a hospital that we deffinitely should do so. Hmmm.....I wish I could of gone. I am so thankful I stuck it out..... It's so not the grade I was hoping for but I guess it will do. Between moving, finding out my boyfriend's mom has a year to live, and working I felt like this semester was never going to end. I really wanted to do summer school, but I think I need a breather before I get burnt out. How are things for you? Are you heading to Northern was it? Are you doing the summer school thing?

Hi Jilaweez! Nope I am not touring NWC I didn't hear anything about it....... Do you have to be in the Nursing program to take the tour? Hope you did well in MICRO - I passed with a 77.8%. You had O'Brian right? Did she grade on a 3.0 scale? Talk to you soon!

Microbiology Spring 2007
Yesterday we didn't have a test, but the next one was scheduled for 4/4. That's the first day back from break so she the prof. wanted to change it to 4/6, but that's 'Reading Day' and classes are canceled. So, our prof. was kind enough to reschedule it to 4/11! That gives me three long beautiful weeks of studying! I really think I can do this, I just hope I don't choke when it comes to actually taking the test.....my nerves always get the best of me. Thank you so much for wanting to know how I am doing, and I'll keep you posted on the scores!

Catzy & Blessed! You guys are seriously the best! You are right, I am a 'hand-on' learner and Lab is my favorite part of Micro! But, I have to buckle down and do my best on the remaining tests! Thank God I have all spring break to just focus on Micro....... Thank you again for all of your support and kind words. You both really know how to cheer a girl up!

Microbiology Spring 2007
Blessed! Thank you so much for your kind words! You said what I really needed to hear. Your words really mean so much to me right now! I have my micro lecture at 11 this morning and my lab is at 2. You are right I need to keep the faith! I seriously was missing it this semster. Thank you again! You really made me re-think that I can do this! I think I'll have a meeting with my instructor, maybe she can give me some pointers on how to study better for her exams. Have a great day Blessed! Talk to you soon!

Microbiology Spring 2007
I just want to say that I didn't leave you guys, I've just been way too busy! School is crazy this semster for me and I feel somewhat like a failure. I am doing horribly in Micro. In the Lab protion I am getting a 92%, In the Assign/Quizz catagory Im receiving an 89.7% and then here is the whamy, In the Lecture Exams I have a wopping 57%, which brings my overall grade to a 68.8% - a big fat F! I hate this whole 3.0 grading scale thing......and she doesn't round up Grrrr..... I am doing so poorly on her tests. Im going crazy! I am a 'B' student so seeing this made me cry my eyes out. I started to double think the whole nursing thing. My boyfriend even asked me if this is something that I want to do.....of course I said yes. Then he said why can't you pull off the grades for it! He's usually way supportive, but I think he thinks Im wasting my time. Sorry, I just needed to vent. I am joining a study group tomorrow morning. So, I guess we will see. I can't get lower than a B......Thank God I have three more tests and a couple more quizes so I can hopefully bring my grade up. How is everone else doing? I hope not as bad as me! I wish you all tons of luck! Thanks for listening to me rant!

Anyone have an "unsupportive mate"?
you will always have support on here from all of us!!!!! don't ever forget that! it sounds like your husband is the insecure one in this relationship and that probably can explain a lot for his actions. you sound like you have your head on right, but staying with someone who treats you the way he does isn't healthy for you! i'm glad to hear that you are moving out on your own soon, and i wish you the best of luck with that! i'm sure you probably already know this......things will be tough at times, but it will so be worth it in the long run. to be on your own, away from the verbal abuse will only give you more energy mentally, emotionally, and physically. keep us posted on your journey!

Piaget's Six Substages of Sensorimotor Development
Thanks for the idea! I think that I may have been thinking too deeply into it.......I tend to do that way too often!

Anyone have an "unsupportive mate"?
i am not trying to start a debate with you; however, i completely disagree with what you are saying. if you "love" yourself the way that you say you do then you wouldn't put up with the man you married calling you names and being unsupportive. isn't someone calling you "fat" verbal/emotional abuse? if you were being verbally abused at work or school wouldn't you tell someone to make it stop? i don't care who he thinks he is, but nobody has the right to call you fat. sometimes it is hard to see what is going on with your life while you are "in" it. take a step back and then look at your life. do you deserve better? i think the answer is yes. this world is not perfect, and no relationship ever will be. maybe marital counseling can resolve some of the tension that seems to be present between yourself and your husband. please no matter what.......remember you always have a support system here!!!!!!!!! as far as me, i do not have any issues with my boyfriend being unsupportive. if i did he would be long gone...... i deserve someone in my life that is there for me as much as i am there for them. i don't want someone trying to hold me down while i am trying to make my life better. misery loves company! and i am definitely not going to get sucked into it! i made that promise to myself a long time ago! good luck and seriously maybe marital counseling can help.

Piaget's Six Substages of Sensorimotor Development
For my Life - Span Development class we have an assignment that incluides the Piaget's 6 substages of sensorimotor development. With this assignment we are supposed to find a toy for each substage, and answer the following questions: Why is the toy appropriate? How it will enhance the substage? How it builds schemes? How it will enhance language development, deferred imitation, explicit memory, and implicit memory? How will the toy enhance object premenece? The problem is that I don't know what a infant in the 1st Stage, Simple reflexes, would play with. Most babies I know between birth and 3 mos. sleep, eat, and poop. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Microbiology Spring 2007
i am so frustrated.....yesterday in lab we were doing gram stains. for some reason or another i am having a difficult time with the gram negative stains, they are supposed to come out a red/pinkish color which some of mine do, but then there is some blue mixed into it. i spoke to my prof. and she insists that the cause is due to me not rinsing the crystal violet completely off. i do feel that i did rinse it efficiently; however, i am worried that the class prior to mine may not be following procedures resulting in them contaminating the gram negative bacteria with the gram positive bacteria. what should i do? i followed the staining procedures to a 't'......any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Microbiology Spring 2007
Thank you so much for the info! I realized that there was going to be a lot covered but, I wasn't sure if it was something that I wouldn't be able to handle. Anyways, I guess it will have to be something that I'll need to do a lot more thinking on. I do have pretty good time management skills, however, I wouldn't want to jeopordize receiving a better grade by me taking it in the summer. Too much to consider....... Thanks for both of your advice...

Microbiology Spring 2007

Microbiology Spring 2007
I hope you did well on your 2 quizes!!!! I am so nervous about this first test! My prof. rushes through our lectures so I feel like we are teaching ourselves the material from the book. Another bad note is that we are being graded on a 3.0 grading scale. So, I guess I have to try my hardest! Then there is my crazy psych teacher, I think she has it in her head that her class is the only class anyone is taking. I figured that by taking it a night there would be less 'busy' work but I guess I was mistaken. Anyways, how is everyone else doing? Remember, we are in this together :)

Please give your advice, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for responding so quickly! I really do appreciate hearing what you both had to say. I think that I'll make the suggestion to my family to have a meeting with the manager of the unit. I really just felt lost and like there was nothing we could do.

Please give your advice, it would be greatly appreciated!
i am not a nurse yet, however i am hoping to get a nurses advice. my soon to be mother-in-law is currently in the hospital. over the new years holiday she was rushed to the icu due to paralysis of the vocal cords. her co2 level was in the upper eighties. as of yet they still have no answer as to what may have caused the vocal chords to stick in the speaking position. after twelve days in the icu she was transferred to a hospital closer to home. she currently is breathing through a trech and at this new hospital she is supposed to be working on physical therapy. while at this hospital she has fallen twice. both times she was in a nurse's care. since she has fallen, her ankles, hips, shoulder, and face are in pain. this now has delayed her pt......along with that she has had bowel movements while laying in bed due to the nurse not assisting her to the bathroom. yesterday, her breathing was not well due to the trech needing to be cleaned......we waited on the respiratory therapist to come in and do that, but he never showed. my soon to be sister-in-law finally cleaned/suctioned her so she could breath. when the respiratory therapist finally did come in he said, "oh what do you need me for, you got it covered," and then he left. or family is beyond frustrated please let me know what you think..... is it normal for a patient to fall in a nurse's care, or is that negligent? i can understand if it happened once but it happened twice. prior to the fall it was discovered that her blood pressure drops very low when she sits up or is standing. with knowing that do you feel there should have been more caution with having her stand to walk around?
