  1. I'm starting to think about moving to an ICU position in the near future and wanted to know what people thought of the local ICU's as far as coworkers, management, work environment, etc. Any information is welcome! I'm mostly thinking of applying to Mayo Clinic, Honor Health Thompson Peak and Honor Health Shea since they are near me. But would love to hear about Banner, St. Joesph's etc. Thanks in advance :)
  2. How would I be able to access it if I do not have an Employee ID or account yet?
  3. Hey guys! I did the Summer externship this last summer and would love to answer any questions that you may have. I would definitely recommend this program because I felt like those extra 300 hours of experience helped when applying to jobs and made me feel a lot more competent in my care! For those who are planning to apply, good luck! :)
  4. For the transplant side it's really help full to know the different transplant meds that are used often (Prograf, Cellcept, Prednisone, Acyclovir, Bactrim, etc.) :)
  5. Hey I'm on 3W too! What shift did you get? I'm on days.
  6. Finally got the call!! So excited to meet everyone :)
  7. Congrats! What unit did you get?
  8. You were in the externship?? And you didn't get a background email either?? Because that could be a good sign that they are just using the previous check
  9. Now I'm worried because I didn't get a background check email... but I did the externship so is there a possibility they just used that background check since it was this year?? Seriously I feel like the anticipation is the worst part. I really hope we find out this week!
  10. Well you can always call HR and ask which position they were interviewing you for. Since it still shows that your application is being reviewed for Critical Care they might have interviewed you for it but forgot to tell you.
  11. Did they not give you a copy of the clinical scenarios so that you could read along?
  12. From my understanding if you were selected for an ICU interview... you do a "combined" interview instead of two separate. When you did the clinical scenarios questions, did they say med-surg or critical care at the top?
  13. Anyone who had an interview... did they let you know when you'd hear if you got a position?
  14. Don't count yourself out yet, I know they get a lot of applicants so they may not have sent all the emails out yet. I haven't gotten one either and no one else I know that applied did.
  15. Which ICU? And I'm confused, all of their applications show "New Grad: No"... did you just apply anyways?? This gives me hope!!
  16. Yeah, I know that at least 2 people in our cohort got on from the alternate list. So don't give up hope, but if not just take some classes next semester to bump up your GPA, it's totally do-able! Good luck!!
  17. I applied for the critical care and med/surg sections. What about you guys? I've heard that you don't know if you have a job offer until the holiday times
  18. Hi there! I am a 4th semester student getting ready to graduate in December. If money is an issue for you, keep in mind that the College of Nursing has a lot of great scholarships that they give out. You can also look into student loans or working during school. Although it can be hard, we have one classmate who has worked full time all 4 semesters... although I wouldn't recommend it. But it's possible to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd if you have a flexible work schedule. I also work full time during the summers to save up when I can. Hopefully that helps, it's a great program and I would recommend it to anyone! Let me know if you have any more questions!
  19. What do you think of the PCU? I also want to start out in ICU, but I know many places require experience so I want to look into PCU and intermediate care/step down. Do you know if Banner hires new grads?
  20. Hey guys! I just applied too, do you know when we can start to expect calls regarding interviews?
  21. This is actually an internship that I found outside of school. Since, I don't have my license they don't want the liability of letting me give medications. But I'm pretty sure that I can do anything else.
  22. I've just been accepted for an internship in an intermediate transplant unit. Unfortunately, I'll be working nights. I'm afraid I won't get as much hands on experience on night shifts, since I'm not allowed to give medications. I was wondering if anyone who currently works on a transplant unit could give me an idea of what a night shift would look like? I'm thinking its mostly going to just be assessments (since I can't give pain medication). Please let me know, any information would be appreciated! Also, any tips on how to stay awake and alert during night shift would be welcome! :)
