Best NCLEX resources for international RNs
I wasn't in a hurry to get licensed as I still live in NZ but I researched the process extensively before I started. I think my timeline from submitting my transcript to getting my license was about 6 months. I am not familiar with NLN CNEA. What program are doing you in NZ? A tip I can share is to try to get some kind of paeds and maternity experience! Maternity is hard to get here.

Best NCLEX resources for international RNs
Hi Emily, Wow, you are the only other US citizen studying in NZ that I've talked to. I ended up miraculously getting registered in Washington. I went through CGFNS and used UWorld to study, which I found helpful. UWorld was not very expensive, about $200 USD for several months' access. However, the whole process of getting licensed was really annoying and expensive and I'm glad it's over! Best of luck to you.

Best NCLEX resources for international RNs
Hi, I graduated from nursing school in New Zeland and English is my first language. What are the best NCLEX online courses, apps, books and podcasts for me to cram for the exam? I have been an RN for 4 years.

NCLEX study prep tips
Hi, I'm a New Zealand educated RN taking the NCLEX in just under 2 months. Does anyone have any hot tips for studying? Best books, online quizzes, podcasts, on the day suggestions...any advice welcome ? I am feeling overwhelmed! Thank you

New Zealand RN just received NCLEX eligibility from NYSED!!
This thread is amazing, thank you. I am still left wondering, if you get your initial RN license in NY where CVS is only required, it seems like to endorse to most other states you still need a CES report which will most likely show a paeds/obstetrics deficiency. So how do people get around that? Are you taking courses in Aus/NZ/US?

RN endorsement in Oregon state for international educated nurse
Hi Smarika, Just wondering how you got on with your endorsement from VA to OR. Just so I understand correctly, did you still have to ask CGFNS for a CES report to get your license in Oregon even though you already passed the NCLEX and got your RN license in VA? Hope it all went well for you ?

CGFNS CES Report Missing Clinical Hours
Hi Arlenebabes, It's not clear on the state BON website that if you endorse from another state they examine your education outside the US again. Where did you register initially? Did you endorse to Florida only? I see Florida is a compact state so could you apply for a multistate license once endorsed there?

License by endorsement
I am hoping to hear of others' experiences of RNs moving to the US from another country who have successfully gotten licensed in their state of choice. Has anyone initially applied to a state BON but their CGFNS CES report came back with educational deficiencies so they applied to a different state BON, got licensed, then endorsed into the original state they wanted to move to therefore bypassing the CES report barrier? Here's hoping there is someone out there!!

License to WA by endorsement
I am hoping to hear of others' experiences of RNs moving to the US from another country who have successfully gotten licensed in Washington State. Has anyone initially applied to the WA BON but their CGFNS CES report came back with educational deficiencies so they applied to a different state BON, got licensed, then endorsed in Washington therefore bypassing the CES report barrier? Here's hoping there is someone out there!!

Australian nurse wanting to work in America
I don't understand about applying to New York with the CVS then endorsing to another state which requires the CES. If the whole point is trying to get around the BON finding you have deficiencies, wouldn't the subsequent CES highlight that? Do any states require a CES if endorsing from another state?

CGFNS CES Report Missing Clinical Hours
I have been following this thread as I am worried I am going to come up against a deficiency in theory/clinical hours for paeds/obstetrics in the licensure process (New Zealand-trained RN). Has anyone gotten declined by a state BON then applied to an "easier" BON (I hear NY has less hurdles) then successfully endorsed to the state BON that originally declined the application due to educational deficiencies?

Endorsing NY license to another state
Wishing you the best of luck!! I may have more questions when I actually apply. I have been seriously considering moving back to the US recently but not sure if I'll be able to. I wish I could get licensed there to have it ready in case and meanwhile work here in NZ, but the state BON I have been corresponding with make the renewal process sound really complicated so not sure it's worth doing until I know I am moving back.

Endorsing NY license to another state
So does the NY BON not require obs and paeds hours like other states? Did you submit to CGFNS and your school filled everything in for you? Where are you hoping to live and work long-term? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't see many Kiwis on here. I don't know why the state BONs make it so hard...the US like everywhere has a huge nursing shortage!!

Endorsing NY license to another state
Hi A B! Just wondering how long ago did you graduate from nursing school in NZ? Also once you pass the NCLEX and endorsing under the NY BON, is it easy enough to endorse in other states? Do you have any experience with the Oregon or Washington state BON? Many thanks, Elsa (Kiwi-trained RN)

Shift Work Calendar App for Android?
I'm also looking for a nursing shift work calendar app for android. I prefer a free one and am specifically looking for one that syncs with Google Calendar since I already use this. Anyone have a reliable app fitting this criteria to recommend? Thank you ?

Finnish/EU Nursing Grad to US Licensure
Hi SpidersWeb, How do you like nursing in Colorado? Do you know how many theory and clinical hours you had in obstetrics and pediatrics from your Finnish BSN? Did CGFNS give you your CES report to see how your degree was evaluated?

US trained NP wants to work in NZ
Kia ora, just wondering what did you end up doing? Did you find out much about the application process to be an NP in NZ with a US MSN?

Australian nurse wanting to work in America
Hiya, I am doing my bachelor of nursing in New Zealand with hopes of licensing in the US (Colorado, Washington, Oregon, or California) in the future. After extensive research I have found that there is no way to tell if I will be deemed educationally deficient by the boards as I don't have a complete transcript and they don't make it clear exactly what they're looking for (the standard response is "comparable to our state programs"). I suspect that I won't have enough theory and clinical hours in obstetrics or theory hours in paediatrics. The obstetrics nursing clinical is the most difficult thing to get here in NZ because midwives do anything related to maternal nursing. Has anyone on this thread found a school in Australia that offers obs and paeds courses to make up these deficiencies?? I wish you all the best in your endeavors and am happy to share what I've learned so far about this process.

Australian Nurse wants to work in USA
Hi Ausnurse720, do you mind sharing how many theory and clinical hours in pediatrics and obstetrics you had when your transcript was evaluated by cgfns? Thats wonderful that they didn't find educational deficienciesí ½í¸Š

Australian nurse wanting to work in Canada/USA
Hi Aussienurse123, nothing to report yet because I'm still doing my BN in New Zealand. I am hoping I will have enough pediatric and obstetric clinical hours by the end of my degree (168 and 30) to qualify for Oregon, Washington, or Colorado and do some post grad papers for peds and obstetrics theory here if needed. The annoying part of it all is I have to wait til I have a real transcript to submit in order to find out if my education is sufficient. I still plan to live in NZ but if I need to move back home (US) I would like to work as a nurse.

CA BON required theory and clinical hours
I have reached out to the right people at my school as well as a number of NZ schools without any luck. A staff member of my school said she recalls a couple cases of students passing the NCLEX years ago but could not recall the state. My guess is the state wasn't CA as they seem to be the strictest and I don't want to rely on my situation being similar as curriculum has changed recently (and CA regs probably have too).

CA BON required theory and clinical hours
I am trying to figure out exactly how many hours the CA BON requires in medical-surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, and psychiatric-mental health nursing. I have read the CA RN Licensure Qualifications for Graduates of International Nursing Program document but it is still unclear to me. From my understanding the theory and clinical must be done during the same semester (concurrently) and that we need at least 288 theory hours and 864 clinical hours total, but can't find exactly how many hours in each category the BON is looking for. Please help! I have searched this forum extensively without luck and I am trying to find out how many hours so that I can ensure I get these BEFORE I graduate from my international nursing program.
