Hi all! They have sent out acceptances. :)

LAHC Fall 2017
Omg, THIS!!! I know how you feel. Once I got the email, I sat there for a bit letting it hit me and soaking up the entire experience. For me, it was tough. I've been in and out of school for about 6 years and finally applied somewhere and my family has been waiting on it for much longer than that. I know it's tough with all the pressure, but what helped us was that they knew it was a lottery system. It was all luck! Make sure your parents understand you've worked hard, and finally got to the milestone of applying. It's a big step! They will feel disappointed at first, but reassure them that perhaps everything happens for a reason. maybe you can take different classes (personally, I am continuing my pre read for my second major, clinical lab science & that'll take even longer!) or work to get some extra money, do something you enjoy! Don't be too hard on yourself (I know it's easier said than done). But, like FMiller said, it'll happen! I have a friend who didn't get in on the first time either, but she did her second time applying. Just keep your head up and remain positive :) and if you even need some support after spilling the news, we are here for you!

LAHC Fall 2017
Nope, just LAHC for me. Did anybody get in from this forum?? I wonder how many eligible applicants there were and how many seats. I'm already thinking about the dread of not getting in a second time lol.

They've sent out the letters. Unfortunately I wasn't accepted due to the high volume of applicants

LAHC Fall 2017
If I don't get accepted this semester, I'm enrolled into a Spanish course over the summer at LAHC, just to get the ball rolling in case I'd need to speak to patients in espanol in the future! Haha. Other than that, I will most likely be studying some dosage calculations and pharmacology textbooks since they don't offer those two courses during summer. Maybe they will during fall. But I'm definitely going to apply a second time once the application period opens again. Lets hope we all get lucky!!!

LAHC Fall 2017
No they just gave us a slip of paper saying if we passed, we continued in the selection process and if not, remediation was available. I left really early so I don't know if the proctor mentioned it later on to other testers. But let's hope it's sometime this coming week! The nerves are getting to me. I'm trying to plan on what to do if I'm not selected í ½í¸

LAHC Fall 2017
Just received the confirmation email for the TEAS!

LAHC Fall 2017
Same!!! I get anxiety every single day haha. There's an app called Pocket Prep for the TEAS and I find its really useful.

LAHC Fall 2017
I called the office today asking about those confirmation emails, and the lady said they usually do not send out confirmation emails, but since everybody has been asking, there might be a chance that we will receive them. Has anyone else heard differently? @Fmiller11, how soon did you hear back from admissions after the TEAS?

LAHC Fall 2017
I got the study manual plus practice test A and B to get a feel for how the exam will be structured. It also helped me pinpoint areas that I need to study! I also got the Mometrix and it has 3 practice tests. Plus the TEAS mastery app too! I find that using anatomy and physio books really help me brush up on my science, and practicing a lot of math problems too since that's one of my weaker areas. even with all of that... I still don't feel confident enough for the test!!! Two weeks to go though I'm surprised that they only have one testing date. I thought it was going to be two different days. MAYBE that means that there were only a few people needing to take the TEAS and the rest of the qualified applicants just need to send in their scores? I tried calling to ask how many qualified applicants there were, but the person who answered didn't know.

LAHC Fall 2017
Ahhh the suspense!! I called recently as well and they said they haven't heard back from admissions, so they were thinking they'd hear back the week after spring break (which is this week!) I'm so nervous! I hope we ALL get teas invitations/picked for the second lottery!

LAHC Fall 2017
Oh wow, hi everyone! I was beginning to think nobody applied to the program since I thought I wasn't getting any comments on this thread emailed to me, haha. Its nearly the end of March!!! I haven't heard anything from the department, so hopefully they'll get around to it in the next two to three weeks! Does anybody else still need to take the TEAS? How are you all preparing for it? I've purchased both practice test A and B, as well as the manual. So far, I've been mainly focusing on A&P, and a bit on language and english usage. It gets very technical!

LAHC Fall 2017
Hi, all! Just wanted to make a thread to see who has applied to LAHC's Nursing program for the fall semester of 2017! Maybe we can all get together and study for the upcoming TEAS in April if there are some still needing to take it :) I know it's a bit early, but it's better to be prepared! Hope to hear from admissions soon - I called and asked when emails for the TEAS would be sent out, and the lady said it would be maybe at the end of March!

Study tips for microbiology?
So I'm halfway through my microbiology course, and I am by no means a stellar A+ student. I have a tough time with school and getting motivated, as I am feeling like I've hit a rut in life and its definitely affecting my studies. I just wanted some advice on how I could improve my study habits, whats worked for other students when taking a microbiology course, and in general, how I can work towards getting at least a B in the course! I've taken an anatomy course in the summer (6 weeks, big mistake) and received a really bad looked upon 'C' in the course And then took physiology last fall and got a 'B', which I was happy about, but I BARELY scraped by with that grade. As most nursing programs here in California require at least a 2.5 gpa in the three sciences, this is my last course to really pull my head out of my butt and work towards getting another 'B' on my transcript. BUT, microbiology just isn't interesting to me as physiology was! I'm really struggling. We have weekly lab quizzes, and I usually get 8/10s on those. We've had 5 so far. We also had our first lecture exam, and I received a 71/100 Most of the exam was on bergey's manual, and I'm no good at memorizing all of the weird genuses and species names, not to mention all of the diseases and origins etc. So that one was a big toughie for me... We also had our midterms. The lab practical I thought was fairly easy, yet I made little mistakes here and there that cost me my grade, like mistaking the acid fast stain with the gram stain. It was a 42/50, so roughly 84%. The lab lecture exam however... was a disappointment. My score was a 64.5/85, 75%. I definitely cannot afford to get a C in the course, or else I'm doomed and won't be able to apply into any nursing programs. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I do know that I get major test anxiety. Whenever I study at home, I drill myself over and over and know the answers really well. But when it comes to the test, I just completely blank, lose all confidence in myself, and end up tanking my score. The lecture exams are a mix of multiple choice and short answers. Our professor is extremely picky, one word missing and he docks off a point, etc. But the trouble with the multiple choice that I have is that he makes A. A and B, B. C and D C. C only D. None of the above; questions like those stump me all of the time, and they make me second guess too! I'm not much of a social person, so its hard for me to form a study group with my classmates. Our class runs as a night class from 5:30pm to 10:15pm, two days a week, so its extremely long and tedious. The second lecture exam is this coming Monday, 3/28/16, so I'd very much like to get a much higher score this time around, at least 80% :) So, I'm still hopeful, but also a bit scared to get another low score. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance! I know from other students that nursing school is extremely tough and if I'm having a difficult time in the pre-requisites that I shouldn't even bother applying.... And though that may be very discouraging, i don't want to quit and say that I didn't at least try for it. So, this is me trying and hopefully pushing through.
