  1. OMG IM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS POST!!! Ive been in Aus for 1.5 years and after AHPRA lost all my paperwork, I’m finally registered and working now! Woo! im in Perth and literally NO hospitals use EMR like we do back home. I’m devastated. I don’t feel safe, I feel as nurses how the hell do we have time to search for the paper chart if it can be found before someone calls, then how do we decipher the writing of the drs (& some nurses), and do this for 4-6 pts each? And although I like team nursing, I don’t like that one of us will be told something and the other might forget it. It’s just too complicated here and I’m desperately missing nursing back home. My quality of life is better but my type A nursing personality is quite sad. Have you gotten used to it all yet?
  2. Hey! I am actually living in Perth, WA- so waaayyyy on the other side of the country. I worked 3 years on a Medsurg floor in Chicago area previously. ?
  3. Hi everyone! ive moved to Oz to be with my partner and after a long time of waiting for AHPRA to finally register me, it’s happened!! Yay! And I got an agency job- so things are looking up. But I am so nervous to start working. I have never paper charted in my life, mixed/calculated medications, I’m used to a Pyxis machine (for meds), and everything seems very-different- than back home. Any advice/tips on organizing/managing would be welcomed! It seems because the computerized nursing has been taken away from me- I’m dumbfounded ??
  4. As a new RN myself, (1 year, but still considered new!) I think you were definitely left out by yourself when you shouldn't have been. In that case, I mean your charge either should have helped you discharge that other pt or pass some meds. Anything little to help. It's okay to reach out for help especially with something that complex for being a new grad of 2 months. Don't be so hard on yourself. This is preparing you for another time and another time will prepare you for a different time. We're always learning and we're always changing. We make mistakes, as long as we learn from them. keep your head up. You are NOT stupid.
