Anyone in IPN working at a VA? Looking for real-world experiences
Hey all! quick question for anyone who's worked at a VA hospital while in a state monitoring program (IPN/TPAPN/PNAP/etc.). I'm compliant, stable, and serious about staying that way. Monitored for having a positive marijuana test. Before I move further, I'd love some real-world perspective: Did you disclose during application or wait for onboarding/backgrounds? How did leadership/HR react? Anything you wish you'd done differently to set leadership at ease? Overall vibe: supportive, neutral, or... complicated? Not looking for legal advice—just lived experience. Thank you!! ?

Oh my gosh, so true. I did not think of that. Hurricane Matthew is really starting to get on my last nerve.

I'm telling myself we will hear Friday at 3:30PM. If not, at least it'll be Friday, which is a terrific consolation prize.

When I applied last semester and was denied a seat, the letters came much more quickly than I anticipated. I'm so nervous, y'all!

Yes, I also thought we were coming from very similar situations. My sister is a local nurse. She's 16 years older than me. She only recently received her BSN through an online program and qualifies for loan forgiveness as she works as a nurse in a public school. I think that's a fantastic option!

I received a BFA from UF. I have heard wonderful things about Santa Fe's program. I have even heard that local hirers prefer students who have graduated from Santa Fe's program, but that is just hearsay. I am not going back to school for the money, necessarily. I am also not interested in accruing any student debt at this point in my life. I want a career that I am proud of having. I would genuinely like to serve people as I think it will be good for my soul. Eventually, I suppose I will be admitted to either Santa Fe or UF's program, but who really knows??? My husband and family are rooted in Gainesville, so I can't move. Some of the online programs I have seen are very very costly. When I spoke to an advisor from Santa Fe, it seemed they keep a pretty objective outlook while considering applicants. I think UF's program is going to have a more subjective application process. I would be so proud to attend either program.

Thank you! Yes, this is my plan, too. I am more interested in Santa Fe's program as I have heard that local hospitals will pay for you to bridge to BSN. It's more affordable for me. I am so glad to hear that 51 point is not the cut off! I apologize for writing the WRONG UF deadline. The deadline to apply to UF's accelerated program is December 1st. :-)
