  1. I was in same boat as you last year. Found HFO job at LTC after >200 applications, but felt like I was losing the little hands on skills I had to begin with. So I ended up relocating to different province after couple of month. I am now at a rural health centre, learning new things everyday! The size of my hospital is nothing compared to GTA ones but big enough to have proper training and support from senior nurses. So I guess it really depends on how rural you are willing to go. I don't think you want to be the only nurse working during night shift... I also tried Health Canada before but they told me they are not looking to hire new grads currently and asked me to get few years of experience first... How are we supposed to get some experience if every job requires experience? I was very frustrated back then. I hope you hear back from someone soon. Good luck! oh, and I got the job before I moved or even applied for their license. So get the job first like loriangel14 says.
  2. I did my phone interview with Central Health (Newfoundland) who took my resume at the job fair I attended. I will see how it goes!
  3. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! GBC/Trent was challenging but not super difficult. You need 75% average during bridging in order to get into Trent part. Bridging part also cannot be done part time. Since most courses are online, you just need to make sure you are on track. It becomes very overwhelming towards the end of each semester... Here is a link to the course outline. Chart of Courses GBC
  4. I heard it is really tough at Centennial. I did mine through GBC/Trent and some of my classmates took the program from centennial before and dropped out. They told me how crazy it was there. Are you currently working FT? Then I suggest switching to PT at least.. Many of my classmates had to even switch to casual due to school work load and all those clinicals... I wish you good luck!
  5. Make sure you read all the documents they say you need to know in advance. Have them open while you are doing the exam just in case. I remember it was not difficult but time consuming. Most questions were common sense while I had to google some of them. None of my friends failed it. Good luck!
  6. I am also a new grad as well but got HFO position at a long term care. It took me 5 month to find the job! I have been trying to get into acute care, but I only had one interview which I did not make it (it was also HFO). I am willing to relocate just to get that experience, so I applied to Saskatchewan during a job fair I attended few weeks ago. They actually called me today to set up a phone interview. I am going to move if I get the position! GTA really is saturated... Only ones I heard back from indeed positions were clinics..
  7. Did anybody take your resume? Actually, last time I went, one of them emailed me to set up a phone interview. I declined back then because I was so overwhelmed with nclex... I regret it And yes, I found that many of them were basically just giving out their website address which we can easily just google. ...
  8. The job fair was hectic. I talked to recruiters from saskatchewan, Manitoba, NF, Yukon and even from Canadian Forces. After talking to the recruiters, I found Manitoba most attractive. I gave all of them my resume. They told me to continue doing what I am doing (applying through their website).
  9. I will make individualized cover letters for sure! And also dress professionally for it too.
  10. I really appreciate your tips.:) I registered online. Do you think it is also necessary to do cover letters for employers that I am really interested in? I guess it's better to be over prepared than under prepared..
  11. Thank you dishes! I hope so too. I already applied to that through health canada. It has been a month since I sent them proof of citizenship and other necessary documents..
  12. I started applying through that website! There is going to be a job fair this week in Toronto where recruiters from saskatchewan should also be attending. Looking forward to it to make some connections. :)
  13. That's what I thought. So I excluded alberta from my list. I guess I will stick with Saskatchewan. Hopefully, it doesn't take too long for the license..
  14. Sounds good to me! Are you practicing there??
  15. Thank you for the tip! Upon quick search, seems like saskatchewan has the least debt. So I will look into moving there.
