  1. It just depends on the facility/company. I have been a nurse in LTC since 2005 and most of the facilities I have worked in offer a shift differential. (usually $1/hr). Where I work right now does not. However, they have great benefits and really great pay without a differential, so the other benefits outweigh.
  2. We use ROCHE COAGUCHEK PRO SYSTEM 05530199160. Our pharmacy doses our Coumadin for INRs below 5
  3. I am a night shift nurse (11 yrs experience) and I can tell you that management needs to sit down with this nurse. She needs to take off her critical care hat and put on her ltc cape. Let these people sleep. During rounds you can do skin checks, offer fluids, etc. Hopefully that a year has passed now the problem has gotten better or stopped completely. Either way, good luck!
  4. THIS IS NOT HOW LONG TERM CARE IS! Of course some places have adopted these practices. DO NOT WORK THERE. I work in an amazing facility now after leaving one very similar if not worse than the one you describe. I hope you get out and find better...ASAP!!!
