PMHNP UT Tyler
Yes, the exams are proctored. Blueprints are provided but you still have to do more to pass. Group study definitely helps a lot, you just have to reach out as soon as the class starts

PMHNP UT Tyler
Full time students takes 3 classes per semester which is 14weeks while part time takes 2 classes. Some classes require you to score 80 as your aggregate in exams before you can pass. Meaning that even though at the end of the class you score 80( papers+discussion +exams) but your aggregate for the exam is less than 80(4 exams which Carries 60% of the class)you have failed the class.

The course has theory and practical. The practical consist of the comprehensive head to toe assessment that you will need to travel to school to perform and the instructors will grade you based on how efficient you are.

PMHNP UT Tyler
Hi,just got admitted to UT Tyler for PMNHP and apparently we have to take 3 classes every semester as a FT student.I don’t know if there is someone that is currently doing a Masters (FNP) program over there cos I will love to know how many DBs and Papers are requested weekly before committing myself to the FT route.

NP vs FNP
Yes you are right about looking for preceptorship at UTA ,I talked to someone from Texas women’s university today and was told they have a list that one can be matched with ,my problem is that I don’t know how credible the school is.Chmaberlain would have been my first choice but they require being in Chicago at 2 different times during schooling for some stuffs.

NP vs FNP
Hi everyone, I am actively considering going back to school for my masters but having some difficulties deciding which one to choose Between acute care NP and FNP.I am also considering UT Arlington,Bradley and Texas women University,Chamberlain would have been my best option but they said it’s required to be in Chicago in person at 2 different times during the course. So to the NPs and FNPs ,why did you choose your fields and what school will you recommend?.Thanks

Medication error
Hi,am a new nurse that was not trained here so things are a lot different. So I gave my patient more than one NTG due to c/o of chest pain.He threw up almost immediately. It was while I was handing over that this mistake was detected.Patient is fine, vitals good, troponin high but a lot better than it was.Have been calling the hospital since morning and no cardiac problem. This was documented in RL solution, informed my unit director and was thinking of quitting and she supported me psychologically.Has anyone had a similar occurrence and what happened?

-
Blood specimen from iv sites.
So,when I got to work Tuesday night,my director pasted on the wall that blood can only be drawn from iv site with 18 and 20G only in patients that are hard to stick and to flush with saline, wait 10min ,withdraw 5ml of blood ,waste and draw another one which can now be used for labs.
-
Blood specimen from iv sites.
Thank you, that was what I thought!

Blood specimen from iv sites.
Okay so yesterday ,a lady from the lab approached me to draw lab from a peripheral iv site that has been used for days, told her I can't that if it's a newly inserted iv I would, informed my charge nurse and house supervisor and they equally said no.So today ,my unit director asked me why I didn't get blood for lab and I told her the same thing I told d lab lady and she said No,it doesn't matter. So my question is,is it really a good practice to draw samples from an iv that has been in situ for days?
