Hunter College also requires you come from an accredited school now too

Is there an updated list? I just looked at St. Joseph's and it now requires you to have graduated from an accredited program.

I'm also looking for an answer to this question. Curious as to if this list is up to date still as well.

Hello, I'm looking for input from anyone who works at the bigger hospitals here in MA: MGH, BWH, BMC, UMASS etc. I'm attending a nursing program (ASN) this fall that is now under review from the ACEN and their approval is with warning (BON). I work full time and have debt from a Masters so this is my only option right now. From what I understand as long as the approval from the BON goes through again I will be okay. There are some RN-BSN programs online that don't require accreditation (yes they are very limited). Some of these programs do require experience working first which would be impossible to get in the Boston area without a BSN anyway. My question is, do magnet hospitals require students to come from accredited schools for BOTH the ASN and BSN portion, or do they just look at BSN? Has anyone done this in the recent years? I'm worried the lists of RN-BSN programs that accept unaccredited coursework are outdated.

For those who got the acceptance letter in Self Service Center - did you get the "attached Enrollment Form"??? It says it has to be completed by May 26 but there was no additional pages past my acceptance letter. I'm guessing they forgot to include it?

Also try going to the Admissions section - apply now area. There is a button you can click to log in to check status of your applications (The Self Service Center). I also got an acceptance letter there like someone else said - for some reason that feels more official than just a change in the My Profile section of My BHCC.

MY PROFILE JUST CHANGED - I got into the alternative program!! GO CHECK GO CHECK!

My just says "None Specified" - but I was enrolled as a General Concentration student when I took some pre-reqs a few years ago.

That is where they have always had orientation. I think they are just making up excuses at this point.

I am so over this and their lack of organization. If there was any other program that could be done part-time while working I'd be moving on. Ugh!

I did get an email...I had to search and it was in my GMail not my BHCC account. It didn't go to spam but was for some reason automatically deleted. I'd try searching in your trash. My program eval changed quite a few months ago too. The real key is the program profile where for most people it probably says general concentration now.

That makes me feel a bit better. In my account I can see it was added under the program evaluation so I know that my application was processed at least. Just waiting for it to pop under program profile. I am going to call them though and let them know I didn't receive an email just to make sure I haven't been left off of a communication list.

I didn't get an email...now I'm freaking out. Although, I never got the email telling me to take the TEAS either - they finally called me for that thank God though. Now I am very worried something happened with my application. UGH!

It makes sense that things are delayed if they are having to deal with ACEN accreditation issues. I know a lot of schools it can be something as simple as faculty not having a Masters in Nursing. I know they have been trying to hire a new Dean for a little while too so I imagine the office is very busy. That along with finals and graduation can explain the delay. Fingers crossed we hear this week though!!

vperdomo, did you send them an email first? I thought maybe this was a bulk message to those that applied but I did not receive anything. I'm glad someone got official word though! Thanks for the information.

What, you've got to be kidding me. They have to do the orientation this month... Nursing program does not meet over the summer and classes would start September 5th - it takes time for uniforms and supplies to come in and for clinical placements to be made. There is no way they would push it to June 1st. I can't believe it!

Go with the ADN! I'm in the same boat and I know the anxiety that comes with thinking about additional debt. It sounds like you have all government loans and would have to take out private loans if you got your BSN. The pro of government loans is that you can do the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program...and if you are still working while in school it counts towards your 10 years before forgiveness! I personally will be doing the ASN route and working while in school. The cost alone makes the decision easy. When you are done, since you already have a BSN you can do a bridge RN-BSN program in about a year online. I honestly think an extra year is nothing when you're saving about 60k.

Has anyone emailed the department chair?

Their lack of organization isn't new, but based on all of the threads from prior years, I really thought we would have heard by the end of April! I also know that the orientation has always taken place in May so it is very surprising that letters aren't out yet. Fingers crossed for everyone, hopefully we hear soon!
