  1. Hi hannabell9, I am in the nursing program at Douglas, and during my prerequisites I had to take stats again, there are quite a few people in the program who have had to take one course twice so try not to stress about it too much. I would just apply and set up an appointment with a counselor they were very helpful in getting into foundations and the nursing program. Best of luck!
  2. Hi, the clinical is usually 8 hours, 7-3 or 6:30-2:30 Thursdays and Fridays. I didn't hear about anyone on weekends in this semester but I know that in future semesters there are weekend clinical placements, 12 hour shifts and rotating days and evenings. I hope that helps!
  3. Hi Awozney, I am in the nursing program at douglas college. You should definitely keep patho text book it helps a lot. You don't take any bio courses specifically but in your arts and science course each semester you will be expected to know things from patho and previous biology courses as you are tested on it in a nursing context. I hope that helps! I had a gap from when I finished my pre req's to when I started and I was thankful for my previous notes and patho text book to help me remember because you build on it. Best of luck to you and everyone applying!
  4. The e-mail was sent to us this morning with our welcome packages! :)
  5. Dillybar, when did you complete your pre-req's ? Those accepted for Fall 2016 finished their pre-req's in Spring 2015 or earlier. For Winter 2017 those accepted finished summer 2015 or earlier. I imagine those accepted for Fall 2017 will be taken from applicants who finished in Fall 2015 or earlier. If you finished your pre req's at the same time as some one else they take the higher GPA for that intake. The wait list does not roll over but if you applied for fall 2016 and didn't get in and then re-applied for winter 2017 you generally have a pretty good chance at getting in given that you finished your pre req's before the other applicants applying for the new intake.
  6. You already got the package with all our course information and clinical placements?
  7. Does anyone know when we are supposed to get our welcome packages?
  8. If you qualify with a 2.33 you will be put on the waitlist if not offered a spot. Then after awhile when the next round of offers are sent out they will shorten the waitlist to about 20 people I believe. I could be wrong about the 20 but It's what a friend in the program told me
  9. Yes, I got an e-mail on July 7. My forms are all done and being handed in today. You should call them and/or e-mail and ask for an extension.
  10. I messaged you but I'm not sure if it worked!
  11. If you PM me your names I can create the group! :)
  12. Medical and Immunization forms are being sent out this week I am told. I am thinking of starting a facebook group for the Jan 2017 class if anyone is interested!
  13. Thank you! I am so excited. I hope you get in!
  14. dillybar, I imagine you have a very good chance at getting in for September 2017! I was so upset about the long wait but it gave me the opportunity to save money and travel! Have you considered other schools?
  15. dillybar, did you apply for an intake yet? Did you get a rejection letter or a wait list letter?
  16. They do not have a waitlist that rolls over you must still apply each semester if not accepted. To be considered you must finish all ten courses in the academic foundations with a minimum c+ in all courses. I hope that helps! Best of luck!!
  17. I applied the day it opened so I think January 2nd or 3rd and heard back February 19th :)
  18. I applied the minute it opened. It is only done by gpa if you finished your pre reqs at the same time as someone else. I hope that helps! But apply as soon as it opens :)
  19. Which term are you wait listed for ? I sent them an email and I was told I was on the waitlist and my position.
  20. I am wondering if anyone has any information regarding the wait list. I am still #1 and am just wondering what is the latest possible date they can let you know. Is it all the way up to the first day of classes? I don't know if I should e-mail and ask. I am considering doing some travelling if I am not starting until January but would much rather start school sooner.
  21. I hope you get into your #1 choice!
  22. I applied and got in to Douglas College in BC! Which is what I wanted as it is close to home and only 3 years in length!
  23. i have been wait listed as well
  24. Hii! I wanted to start a new topic where everyone can post where they have decided to go to nursing school for fall 2016 or even january 2017! It's a very exciting time for everyone and it's always good to celebrate an acceptance!! Maybe even get some help if you are deciding between schools!
  25. I did the HCP level with the standard first aid :)
