Aetna CM Training
I started applying in August and received a call for an interview in October. Once I got that call, it went quickly. Be patient and don't give up! I also applied continuously for Humana and United and never heard a peep from them.

Aetna CM Training
I will be working for Aetna, starting next month. I will be training in their local office. I understand training is about 4-6 weeks, followed by 2-3 months with a preceptor.

Aetna CM Training
After MONTHS of applying, I finally got an offer from Aetna for a case manager position. Does anyone work for Aetna? I'd love to get an idea of what to expect during training. I hear training is quite extensive and would like any pointers or tools to make it go smoothly.

Should I give up??
FreudianSlip, I guess you were my lucky star. FINALLY got a telephone interview that went very well and will be interviewing in person in two weeks! Thanks for your good wishes.

Should I give up??
I have been a registered nurse for almost 5 years. I knew I wanted to pursue case management nursing as early as nursing school. I feel like I've made all the moves up to this point that would prepare me for case management. My most recent position is a patient care navigator. This position aligns quite closely with the case management positions I see available on the employment websites. I have been applying to the "big boys" for several months, meaning the large insurance companies who hire telephonic case managers. I have tailored my resume to the job postings, made sure I applied to positions which I am well qualified for, and am getting nothing but rejections! I'm not even getting a 'pre-interview'! The thing that I'm lacking is prior case management experience. Personally, that won't be a problem, as I'm a fast learner and enthusiastic about the field. I suppose if I were scanning resumes, I would choose the applicant with the case management experience over the one without. The hospitals in my area seem to require well over five years experience, and I'm not there yet. I guess my question, other than the pleasure of venting all of this out, is... does anyone have experience with the hiring process in case management? Should I give up, considering I do not have case management experience? How will I get it?? Thanks for listening and replying. I always look forward to the posts on this website!

Humana Employees
Hi! How is everything going? Did you start training yet? I still haven't heard anything yet, going on a month now, but I'm hoping "no news is good news" and that I'll still be considered. I would love to hear how it's going for you!

Humana Employees
How exciting! Good luck and I would love to hear more after you start. I read that you go away for training, so remote training sounds convenient. I'm glad to hear how long the hiring process took, I get worried when I don't hear! Do you mind me asking if you have prior Case Management experience? I have experience in everything else, but CM will be new. I was hoping that wouldn't influence their decision to interview me. I wish you the very best on this new adventure! Keep me posted!

Humana Employees
Fraga11, It looks like you are much further along than I am! I just started applying last week and have not heard anything yet. I've done a lot of research and I see good and bad reviews. If I get an interview, I will have plenty of questions for them about the metrics and their expectations of employees. It seems a lot of people complain about keeping up with the metrics. I'm not afraid of hard work, but I also want to provide appropriate patient care. How long did it take for you to hear back after you applied? When does your training start and where will you go? I would love any feedback you care to share and I will keep you posted if I hear from them!

Humana Employees
I know this thread is old, but if anyone is still employed with Humana or doing any type of telephonic case management, I'd love to hear how things are going. I've been researching the position and contemplating a change. I currently work as a patient navigator and do a lot of phone coordinating with patients. I like this type of work but would love to be able to do it from home and avoid commutes, snow, etc. I've read and heard good and bad reviews of this type of job but would be interested to hear what the latest opinions are, specifically for Humana.
