Hello everyone... I got into a second entry program last September and I'm half way through and set to graduate in April 2021. I'm doing well in my classes (nothing below 85) But this is hugely due to the fact that my program places large emphasis on group work and personal essay/reflections etc. I come from a "hard science" background and I'm finding that I am doing relatively poor in my nursing specific courses compared to my peers. For example, in pharm or patho I can easily study and ace exams. In my nursing courses I barely get an 80 while the class avarage is well over 85. I had a prof pull me aside and advise that I see her during office hours regarding my 82 on a midterm because the class avarage was significantly higher. I know how this sounds... Ofcourse I'm still doing very well and this is not a brag about marks. I Am Genuinely Concerned because I tend to do bad on NCLEX type questions (specifically those pertaining to things like, "what should the nurse do first in this situation" I am finding that in nursing there are many right answers BUT only one real answer and I don't know how to change my thinking process. I do well in labs ( starting clinical this Summer) but that's because I work well with patients and it's a controlled environment where I can walk myself through steps. I am worried that I won't pass the NCLEX when the time comes. How do I start to think more like a nurse????

can someone give us feedback on how they liked it...pros cons, job prospects. Im a student nurse and am highly intrested in this program for the future..how did placements go? also they emphasize that they do not train NPs for acute care, did anyone find this to be troublesome?

I just got accepted to western as well. Super psyched as it's the only school I applied for! Tried to accept the offer but it redirected me to Ouac and no offer shows up-do I have to wait a few days for Ouac to be updated?

hey did you by any chance apply to other PA programs? i applied to Mac and Manitoba for PA and then western for nursing.

I'm not even a nurse, but if you google...government of Nunavut jobs and go to their career site there are plenty of nursing jobs. I believe the site also offeres info on how to become licensed in nunavut

any more news from Western...whats the deadline for people to give their responses for the second round? I have a 3.8~(80-84%). does anyone know if they will go that low? whats the cutoff for this year?

hey I'm not sure if I'd be of any help...but I was in the same position last year. I did an honorary science degree at uoft and applied to Trent and they offered me the same thing you got...I dicided not to go through with it (because I already did 4 years of science) and instead stayed at uoft for a 5th to get my grades up. This years gpa cutoff is 2.7 For the last two years of your undergrad(according to their site). Though I've noticed from this site that many people who got early offers have had really high cgpas. If you think you can do well in that one year of honours science then maybe take the offer

I thought placements are determined based on grades? So there's no protocol for what placement you get or how you get it? That's a bit worrisome I guess

You guys...i am a nervous wreck right now...I'm checking my email and Trent portal obsessively....on the main 2016 2nd entry thread. a bunch of people received acceptances last month. Has anyone else heard back in April? On their site it says admissions started in March and will be on a rolling basis. I kinda threw all my eggs in the Trent basket. I applied to Humber too (only last month-a bit late)...
