In progress MSN... can't stand nursing theory... switching to PA school ASAP
I know this topic is a bit old, but wow, I agree with you 100%. I'm in the midst of my BScN program, and so far I've been able to get all A's - well, its not happening this semester because of this course...to me it's just so forced, so "captain Obvious to the rescue"...All these theories - it's like someone is trying to put something that is already common sense/knowledge in the wordiest most confusing form possible. I am studying for my midterm and honestly I want to bang my head against the wall....

Embarrassed and depressed
By the way, there are 2 vets in my class, one of them just moved out of her parents house - she is in her late 30s. The other one is about your age and is renting a house with 6! other people - honestly, I don't know how is this any better than living with your parents; personally I would rather choose the latter! Again, your situation is not unique and you need to put it out of your head, you're not a loser!

Favorite ways to study for A&P and biology
A's in all three anatomies - practice questions and practice exams worked the best for me; I also went to study groups organized by my university and conducted by senior students. I'll tell you what never worked for me - studying with other people, like a bunch of classmates getting together to study - I don't know if it's just the people I go to school with (or me lol), but it always ended up being a disorganized chaos, some people are better prepared than others and do not really benefit from it at all, and there's also a temptation of chatting and not focusing on studying )) If there was something that I couldn't understand, like acid-base balance and other challenging topics, I used Khan Academy on youtube. Good luck!

Embarrassed and depressed
There's no reason to feel embarrassed at all! You're not laying around on your parents' couch and playing video games all day - you went back to school to better your life! I'm 37 and I'm in second year of BScN, and I know it takes guts to go back to school when you're older than an average student. Any reasonable and sane person understands that people do sometimes move back with their parents to ease the financial burden of continuing their education - and those who don't, well heck with them ))) Focus on your studies, and don't worry about what other people think!

what should I do with classmate/ friend who won't study but will complain about failing?
Yeah, I am an A student (so far lol) and have a classmate who skips a bunch of classes, doesn't study and then messages me and asks if I want to come to school 3-4 hours early on a test day "to review material" with her? Or she'd say, oh you got such a good mark, lets study together for our next midterm or whatever...the whole reason I do well is because I go to study groups, study a lot (on my own!) and do not miss classes. And it's one thing when people have kids at home, or work to put themselves through school, this I do understand and I'm always willing to help. But if you skip school because you went to see a baseball game with your boyfriend, or you were just too lazy to leave your house, sorry I do not have sympathy for you and I'm not going to waste my time explaining material to you.
