The IOM released a statement some years ago encouraging facilities to be staffed with 80% BSN prepared nurses by 2020. This statement was issued based in the research quoted above. Patient safety being he lead concern. A higher educated nurse is a better prepared nurse by the statistics. My school phased out the ASN program and has gone strictly BSN keeping inline with what the local hospitals are looking for. I was one of the last accepted into the ASN program but was required to change to BSN if I wanted to stay in their program. I didn't mind it because I would prefer my BSN but I know students who changed to local technical colleges and plan to get their ASN and go back for their BSN later. The largest hospital in our area is offering bonuses, tuition payments and raises for ASN nurses willing to pursue their RN to BSN so that they can retain their current ASN prepared workforce. My best friend is going this route and has received two raises since she started back to school. (One at the end of each semester she completed). My great aunt who has been a nurse my entire life attended a nurse training program operated by a hospital and said she saw much of the same arguments when they transition to educating nurses in colleges and universities hit its peak. But she said you could tell a difference in the hospital trained nurses and collegiate trained nurses. She said she would have gone back herself but at the time there was no push for it until the advent of nurse practitioners and then she felt too old to see further education. She fully believes this is a great thing and encourages me to seek all the education I can so I can be the most prepared that I can be.

I got something about registration problems but nothing else. I was hoping to find out when/if orientation would be.

Have any of you that were accepted received anything beyond the provisional acceptance email?

My first job was suckering/harvest tobacco. It was nasty work but as a teen, it paid great. My parents were dirt poor so being able to earn my own money felt like finding a gold mine. Their deep poverty was great motivation to get my act together and pursue a career that I had passion for. I can't wait to finish and begin working! As for worst job, front-end manger in training at Kroger. Horrible shifts, rude customers and a witchy boss made the nasty tobacco fields look appealing.

Our program requires a 95 with on two tries to complete it or be kicked from the program.

I'm so glad it wasn't just me. Have you considered what stethoscope you're going to purchase? Littmann Classic is the clear suggestion from every blog, post here, etc. But a couple current nurses I've spoken to said not go that expensive yet. Wait until school is out and you are working.

I emailed because I didn't have the confirmation agreement either and someone sent it right back to me.

Did anyone else get an email correcting there acceptance from spring 2017 Dal. campus to the G'ville campus? I got that one mid-morning today.

Have you checked your clutter box for your UNG email. Someone suggested I look there because that's where their letter landed.

I got my acceptance for spring of 2017 at Dahlinega Campus. It asked for a signed form to confirm your place but mine didn't have one attached.

I heard similar. Something about if they send them late on Friday before spring break it gives us a week to digest the letter instead of calling mad because we didn't or calling being a pest because we did. It almost sounded like it made some sort of sense. [emoji38]
