Hey! Good for you for being proactive! Being a CNA is definitely an advantage just because it shows you have some medical experience. I know when I graduated last year I was a mess looking for a job before finally landing one so here are some tips: - Network with professors/hospitals that you did clinicals at - Once you graduate take time to get your resume together (don't wait until after you pass NCLEX) - Start looking at hospitals you're interested in (Sloan, NYP, NYU, North Shore) to see when they hire new grads (I know NYP has an event for new grads in like Jan or something for people graduating in May) - Look for any nursing job fairs to go to even though you don't have a license as yet just to get familiar with people and get business cards - Create a LinkdIn profile (a recruiter actually reached out to me from seeing my profile) - If your schedule allows see if it's possible to do some volunteering at one of the hospitals you're interested in (I know even volunteering at a hospital can be difficult, but worth a shot!) - Also if all else fails, if you like where you work maybe take a job there and once you hit a year start applying to other hospitals (trust me a year flies by, it's crazy) Good luck and congrats on entering your final year, you're almost there!!!

Sorry to hear that your experience has been so bad. Unfortunately sticking it out might be the best bet, but maybe try to focus on learning and growing every shift as much as you can rather than the floor itself (which I know is a lot easier said then done). I don't know what your "dream hospital" is, but maybe keep your eyes open for Career Fairs or Networking Events and attend them starting around your 6 month mark, because by then you'll have more experience. Since your interest in maternal/child health maybe see if you can volunteer/connect with March of Dimes to boost your resume in the mean time. Not sure how helpful this is, but good luck and stay positive! I'm sure you worked your butt off in nursing school so don't let this job bring you down

First off, thank you to all who have posted on this thread! It not only gave me confidence, but has helped me plan for my upcoming interview with NYU. I am a new grad that has been applying for jobs since July with no luck. I had one interview that unfortunately did not end with an offer. I was so excited this afternoon when I received an email to interview with a recruiter in early Nov. I am really hoping that this ends well and I can get hired at NYU. Just from this thread I can see they hire exceptional people! I'm taking these next few weeks to practice and prepare for the interview as best as possible. For those who have been working at NYU how has it been so far? Was the Residency Program what you expected? Any advice for a new grad? Again, thank you all very much! I hope I can be as helpful to others as you all have been...once I get hired of course.

No I didn't. I really don't know anyone like that to contact. Has anyone heard back from HR regarding the fellowship positions?

It shows as Registered Nurse Fellowship and it depends on the hospital. I know for sure LIJ, Manhasset, and LEnox do them. I've seen for South Side as well

I thought it went really well which is why i am kinda bummed to not hear back. The interview was Very basic, review a very standard head to toe. Is this your first or second interview? Good luck!!

Hey, I went on one interview with the Nurse Recruiter and applied online for the fellowship. I haven't gotten a second call. Is it safe to say I haven't gotten it? I just want to know for my peace of mind. Good luck to you!
