Nurse Refresher Question
Hi there! I have been an RN for 12 years but have never worked in a hospital. I always did work in a clinic or community health field. I'm now working with first responders where I feel my acute, emergency nursing skills and knowledge are needing a freshening up! Do you know if there are courses either online or in person that I could take that would basically help? I'm thinking reading 12 leads, wound care, some pathophysiology stuff, diabetic meds? Thank you in advance.

G Tube Fell Out
Hi! Yes a Gastro tube. I'm wondering if I can put the old tube back in rather than sending him to the ED.

G Tube Fell Out
A patient lives in an AFH and has pulled out their G tube that they have had in place for years. The tube is in good shape, not damaged. They do not any supplies at home. Can I clean it and put it back in with appropriate supplies? Or can I only replace it with a new, packaged, sterile one? If I can clean it, how do I do so? Thank you

Hello! Are any of you Rheumatology nurses? If so and you work in the clinic setting, what does a typical day look like for you? Are you administering medications or helping with any type of procedures? Thanks in advance!

Palliative Care Patient Care
Hello! I am thinking about applying for an open position at my clinic for Palliative Care Nurse Navigator. I don't know a lot about Palliative Care but I do know it is separate from Hospice in my Clinic. I am wondering if this position includes direct patient care, like catheters and IV medications, etc. or is it less hand's on? Any information would be so appreciated. Thank you.

Skin prep pre-procedure
Thank you for your response. I understand it's a providers decision on how they would like it done but I was just curious what the majority of people have done, in their experience. Thank you! Thank you!

Skin prep pre-procedure
Hi, I have a question regarding preparing the skin prior to a minor procedure, such as removing a skin lesion. My provider has asked me to prepare the skin using a povidone-iodine swabstick. Do I let it dry and then leave it? Or am I supposed to wipe it off or?

Thank you! Aspen is not on this list unfortunately. However on the Department of Health website it shows Aspen listed on another list. It's so unclear and confusing...

WA State Requirements BSN Aspen University
Hello! I have recently heard that WA state requires an online BSN program from a school to have at least ONE campus in state in order to be accredited. I cannot confirm this with the nursing commission because I cannot get a hold of them. I'm hoping to go to Aspen college and they do not have a campus in state. Wondering if anyone else knows if this is true or not.

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) - RN to BSN Reviews
When you say you can "go at your own pace", can you explain that? I work 32 hours a week and will continue to do that while getting my BSN. I would like to find a program where I can take a class or two each quarter but also only take one class a quarter if I like. Do they offer this? Thank you

Vaccine administration children
Hello! I understand the vastus lateralis is the recommended place for IM injections for immunizations for babies and toddlers. But what about Subcutaneous? I read "anterior outer thigh". Is it the same place but we are just using different sized needles and angles? Thank you!

EKG
Hi Everyone! I work in a family practice office and we are expected to do ekg's. I understand how to put on the leads, etc. But what I'd like to know is WHEN to press the "analyze" or "record" button? Basically I'm standing there looking at the computer asking the patient to be still and ready to hit "record" so I can print it off for the doctor. But it's been so long since I learned about ekg interpretation that I'm not sure what I'm looking for before recording. Any hints or tips are appreciated!

Urine dipstick, urinalysis, culture?!
Hi! I work in a family physicians clinic and am stumped. Can someone please explain to me the difference between a urine dipstick, urinalysis, culture and a urine drug screen? We are often asked to perform these on patients and I don't know the difference between them? What gets sent off? What doesn't? How the patient performs them, like sterile catch, etc? Thanks!!

Refresher Book
Hi, thank you so much for your advice! Do you mean, like a certification I can do online? If so, where would you suggest finding them? That is a great idea, I just don't know where to look and what to look for that would be accredited? Thank you!

Refresher Book
I have only been out of nursing school for close to 5 years but the clinic that I work in has been very slow going. I've been an allergy nurse this whole time. I am going to be starting a new job in a busier clinic with Internal Medicine. I feel like I need a refresher. Has anyone every found a book that is a great refresher? Thanks
